In recent months, the US has stepped up flying manned reconnaissance missions near the Russian Black Sea coast.

Right now, a US Navy P-8A Poseidon MPA is completing a flight that had it loitering near the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s homeport in Novorossiysk.

  1. Old friend of mine flies P-8s in the Navy. He’s primarily on submarine hunting missions, though P-8s can be used for other recon missions as well

  4. unrelated, but now that all those nuclear-capable bombers have moved over near Alaska, it would be nice to have a drone frenzy there while they’re all gathered in one convenient spot.
