Really, really awful story. Why are we leaving this to the charity sector? Surely these care homes should be in the NHS umbrella with proper government funding? Seems like a disaster waiting to happen when you consider the needs of these children
If these kids are so disabled that they can die in 15 minutes from being unable to breathe for themselves, and are never expected to have the neurological function to be able to breathe for themselves, one does have to ask if we are doing the right thing here.
If a child needs to have round the clock care, 1 on 1 for their entire lives, that’s going to cost £300k plus per year, for their entire lives and they will never be able to develop due to those same disabilities.
That money could save so many cancer patients who actually have a chance of recovering a meaningful quality of life instead.
