1 number out looks close, but statistically it means nothing, so don’t kick yourself thinking you were close.
For example, the odds of 1 2 3 4 5 6 being drawn are the same as any other combination of numbers.
This happened to me on the lotto many years ago. I also had a euros ticket where 1 line had 3 numbers and a star and the second line had the other numbers and remaining star. Ah well.
my friend was one number off winning set for life. her runner up prize was £250 lol
But it is interesting psychologically. Of course the OP is thinking ‘so close’, despite being exactly as far away as everyone else who got two. One of the many ways gambling tricks you into intuitive but incorrect thinking, to suck you in to gambling more.
I got 1 number across 4 lines, 4 weeks in a row. Week one I didn’t get a single number.

I once got all 6 numbers on the lottery.
Unfortunately 3 were in one line and the exact other 3 were on the other line.

I almost won 270,000 quid on lottery few years ago. My numbers came out but I forgot to put my numbers on..
A girl in the UK won the euro millions, splitting the £198M pot.
She would have been £99M richer, but she didn’t have £2 in her current account when the automatic payment was taken.
Her numbers came up, but she had a void ticket, therefore won nothing.
i understand how this could torment a person, but in terms of probability you’re nowhere near winning at all. console yourself in the knowledge that it’s only false logic that makes it seem that way. you’re just as close as you’d be if each number were 30 places removed.
The way I look at it, 20-22.50 a month to possibly have the chance at 8/9 figures on euro millions. Won’t miss the 20. Don’t bother checking unless I get a notification.
My dad’s work syndicate moved their lottery day from Saturday to Wednesday and their numbers came out within a month of it happening.
He was not happy, would have been about 60k each back in mid 2000’s lol

You can check your numbers against the last 12 months of draws to see.
I took around 50 goes and still haven’t matched more than 3 numbers and those are like once or twice over all the draws
I won £10 on it haha
Unless you have a routine to picking your numbers (like changing it by 1 digit every time), you did not almost win set for life.
