Austria ‘deeply shaken’ by gun shooting in a school in Graz • FRANCE 24 English

of course the nine people who were killed at that school shooting in the Austrian city of Graz we can go across uh to correspondent Arian F standing by arian what do we know at this hour hello good day from Vienna Austria and unfortunately they corrected the number now we have uh 10 people have died following a shooting at a secondary school in the second largest city of Austria Kat and uh well more than 30 people are injured and they are at the moment at several hospitals around the area and how have uh Austrian officials been responding to this shooting because this is not something that typically happens every week where you are well this is um as Chancellor Christian Shocker called it a national tragedy austria is really deeply shocked in grief and while we are talking here now all the important officials so you can say that Austrians political life is canceled today they canceled all the press conferences all the meetings while we are talking here there is a press conference ongoing with interior minister gead khana from the people’s party and minister for education kristo vidaka from the neos party and uh well also the chancellor is uh right now in grats they are starting to realize what happened because this is as you said not very normal situation it’s quite a shocking moment for all the people involved and as you know it’s uh the end of the year in school here and so this was a big school called uh second high school that means bo in Austrian language uh l and uh all the kids are really terribly shocked at the moment and what have local authorities done because you know this shooting happened in a school uh h how are they dealing with with handling you know the trauma that this is must be causing amongst the children maybe one sentence concerning what happened exactly before 10:00 a.m police were uh having the news that some gun shootings are happening in this school and then they came and well um one as we know the identity of the perpetrator is still unknown but what we know till now it’s a former student and he is among the deaths so of the school and it could be that it was sort of a revenge but as it to be confirmed we are not sure the what the authorities did was to install two uh teams helping teams to um they opened two helping centers to take care of the parents the friends the students and what is the most important they try to get the students away from the media to let them calm down to let them to uh realize the situation and they’re really hard uh um psychological help workers going on with their work at the moment and as we will face and that as it will be said in the upcoming press conference there every school every um high school in Austria has a plan for such incidents what they will do what’s the followup and they’re going to release now the upcoming status quo okay Arian F we leave it there thank you so much for joining us on the program

For anyone that things American culture doesn't play any role in society in general, even abroad… At 2:52 you clearly see an advertisement, in English, on a country like Austria whose official language is German. This is how prevalent and ubiquitous American and English are, in all other western countries, regardless of the official language.
