As Georgia slowly gets ready to host the 2025 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, more countries reveal their plans for the upcoming edition. As for today, two more broadcasters confirm they are not returning to the 23rd Junior Eurovision Song Contest, RTVSLO from Slovenia and the BBC from the United Kingdom.
Slovenia – RTVSLO
According to Eurovoix, RTVSLO does not plan a return to Junior Eurovision 2025. Specifically, the RTVSLO Communication Department states that no return will be made neither in 2025 nor in 2026 :
We would like to inform you that participation in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC) is not included in the annual program plan of RTVSLO for 2025. After careful consideration, we have decided that we will participate in the project in 2026 either.
Slovenia first debuted in the children’s contest in 2014 and after two consecutive appearances decided to withdraw not having made a return since then.
United Kingdom – BBC
The United Kingdom, one of the contest’s founding members, returned to the contest in 2022 after a 17 year hiatus. Despite its successful run with two consecutive top five finishes, and even a win in the online vote in 2022, the country decided to step back last year. Right now, it doesn’t seem that the country will return neither in 2025.
According to ESCSpot, BBC does not plan a return in Junior Eurovision 2025, with the decision being made earlier this year, as the children’s contest was never included in the broadcaster’s programming schedule.
