Help! I live in a 2nd floor flat and for the past week a pigeon has been wandering in through the window. We keep shooing her out but I got home from work today and she's knocked everything off the windowsill, pooped in the sink and started building a nest!
I've closed the window but she's sat on the ledge outside.
I feel guilty. Does anyone have any suggestions for helping her with a makeshift nest on the outside of the window? A small plastic container or something? It's not a very big ledge but I still want to help her 😞

Start building a house in her tree, see how she likes it.
Pigeons are renowned for being the worst nest makers. That’s probably a finished nest.
Pigeons are terrible houseguests, their chicks stay on the nest forever and shit everywhere for the duration.
If you’re keen to help her out then all she needs is a flat surface and enough twigs etc to stop the eggs rolling off. If the ledge is narrow you could rig up some sort of lip on the edge and she’d happily nest at one end.
Just don’t be surprised if your windowsill is never clean again.
You need help to close the window 🤷🏻♂️😂
If that’s a pigeon nest it’s possibly finished, if anything it looks a bit over built.
Buying a pigeon a plastic container to build a nest in would be like buying a stone age hunter gatherer a Lamborghini tractor. So far beyond their level that it would probably just confuse and intimidate them.
Naturally, prior to humans making massive cities full of perfect pigeon nesting nooks and food, they would nest on rocky ledges on cliffs, they don’t need sturdy nests that would survive being perched in bendy tree branches etc. They just chuck a few sticks down to stop their eggs rolling off the cliff and becoming omelette and they’re good to go.
Maybe glue a bit of wood dowling to your windowsill to get them halfway there?
Have you thought about putting up a “No pigeons” sign?
Maybe keep the window closed?
Could be constructing a mini wicker man to sacrifice a smaller bird? Either way I wouldn’t get involved mate
[You could always deal with the pigeons this way :)](https://youtu.be/S82_5M09EL8?si=PszG-p-4eCCNksqU)
Coo coo. Don’t come in the window, I’m having a poo.

OP stood next to an open window:
How can I possibly prevent this?
Get rid. They bring bird mites.
Put this is on r/pigeon – they will have some good advice
More than two sticks – that’s basically a pigeon Grand Designs episode you’ve scuppered right there!
Well kick it the fuck out then
That’s too many stick for a pigeon nest.
Let the pigeon into your house. You seem keen on it if the pics are anything to go by. That’s a finished pigeon nest.
Just remove the sticks . It will find somewhere.
You could put a hanging basket outside the window, if you can reach out enough to drill a bracket in the wall safely that is.

These motherfuckers keep nesting in my garage. I hate the little shits and they won’t stop
Whatever your stance on pigeons, please remember that disturbing any bird nest is covered by the Wildlife Act and is a criminal offence to do so.
You need help gathering more twigs? A bird can do it. You should be able to do it.
[You can’t just “get rid of it”, like some people are suggesting to do.](https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1981/69) This is your life now lol (I, too, have pigeons nesting at my home). Seeming as they are nesting in your bathroom, you probably fit the criteria to have the nest removed. Maybe contact a bird control specialist and see if they can help you safely relocate it
Nothing wrong with that!
Check the rest of the house for ghosts.
Ok here’s some help and advice, gather some more twigs and bits of fluff they aren’t very good at building nests on their own.
Unless you want a bathroom covered in pigeon shit and whatever nasty disease they are carrying make sure you keep them out. I’ve had one on my balcony which I chased at least 20 times a day – damn thing didn’t give up. ‘Flying rats’ is a better description.
I mean, if it pooped in the sink and not on the floor, she’s already a better roommate than most people nowadays
You feel guilty? Jesus wept.
It’s a pigeon that has managed fine in life up until now, shut the window and ignore it and it’ll go away.
Did you serve a section 21 notice properly?
‘It’s perfect, don’t change a thing.’
