As it turned out, the Russian Su-25 shot down this morning grabbed a pack of NARs from its buddy almost point-blank on the cap, after which it safely crashed and burned.

  13. That does not look like friendly fire. once you slow it down, maybe the crappy quality but that looks like a missile came from the left of the screen and blew up just before the first jet right before its wing explodes.

  20. Looks more like structural failure more than anything else. The wing that broke off was the wing that was further from the launching plane. It broke as soon as he tried to pull up and away.

    These airframes are ancient and god knows how many hours are on them with who knows what kind of maintenance schedule.

    1. The SU-25 is not in production, thus depletable.
    2. They are not using flares on the attack run. Good.

    Good work, no matter who shot it down.

  38. I don’t think it was a friendly fire as the buddy is on the left side. Seems like the wing just came apart from over G. Probably from lack of quality control at maintenance.

  39. Odd situation if the chase plane is Ukrainian because the lead plane is not taking any evasive action and the chase plane could have shot that missile from a lot greater distance.

  41. puff of white smoke and the plane falls out of the sky smells like something hit the plane… almost reminds me of starstreak but i don’t know anything about the likelihood of that. they did say about those armored AA vehicles from the UK recently tho… 🤔

    upon further viewing i notice there is a panel from the plane flapping down right after the puff of smoke. my theory is that the panel was not maintained (obviously!) and as such it popped on the high g maneuver and ripped its self off
