There’s a great documentary series that was on BBC 2 (now on BBC iPlayer) called ‘Shifty’ about the decline of the British Empire and its colonialism. It starts With Thatcher era Britain and goes through its history. The Southall riots, the Brixton riots, British intolerance, racism and its total subjugation of its working class. It’s funny sitting here watching the footage of the southall riots, Brixton riots, the murder of a young sikh man by skin hears that very very little has changed. I’d recommend all to watch it. Some things just never seem to change.
I just hope all these people that are destroying their communities, their neighbours homes, their community centres realise none of it will help and intolerance just breeds intolerance. It’s deeply saddening to watch.
