Yes. That’s their own fault, shouldn’t allow loyalists to get away with everything.
Yes, officer..
Respectfully yea. It is by definition their job to get involved and quell protests. I have seen photos of the PSNI posted on a street in dozens, 4 wagons etc, while the actual protesters are 5 streets away.
They are literally standing doing nothing while people hit them with petrol bombs.
Someone puts a sticker on an atm and they are bagged and tagged
I’ve seen the PSNI show up to perfectly peaceful demonstrations and turn them into a bloodbath, so that fact that they just watched as racists burnt people out of their homes shows that that they are just bullies and not actually defenders of peace
I blame the senior leaders not the actual police – this is attempted murder and should be treated as such.
I think ones view the police as some sort of hive mind and not like actual individuals. The senior leadership are to blame for not giving orders to handle the protests correctly
Carla Lockhart heavily criticised the PSNI on her social media account for the operation in Portadown on Thursday night. Yet when she was on Radio Ulster a few hours later she said absolutely nothing about the PSNI….because she knew damn rightly William Crawley would have challenged her on that.
Two of her personal friends were tried and convicted of evicting a catholic mother a few hundred yards from Carla’s home 2 years ago…all caught on a doorbell camera…Carla said nothing to help the victim. The mother and child moved out…Carla unfriended the two perpetrators. She’s okay with people getting put out of their homes…i they don’t fit in to her constituency.
The most bigoted MP in Westminster.
This is what happens when you allow “low level” rioters to further their aim, they further their destruction and the mob become emboldened.
Surely it’s Policing 101 to break up a mob peacefully before it becomes violent?
When the dust settles on this and a handful of brew lifers are handed suspended sentences and the bar stool ring leaders have a good laugh with mates like Winkie Irvine, it will show NI justice for what it is again.
Personally I think the PSNI adopted the right attitude.
Let these people wreck their own areas like the scumbags they are.
Then publicly post pictures, naming and shaming them and their respective parents (as alot of these clowns were undoubtedly under 18).
A trip to court and custodial sentence following that and the permanent recording of racist criminal behaviour on their respective criminal records should be enough to consign them to a lifetime in the scum infested towns they tried to burn.
It reminds me of the parable of the young bull and the old bull….
Absolutely, they consistently turn a blind eye to fleg culture. They help enable the continued existence of loyalist paramilitaries, illegal bonfires and the sectarian use of flags etc etc. This balls would not be allowed to stand in the rest of the UK.
The environment they enable is what produces riots such as these. It’s not a co-incidence that this happened in loyalist areas and the next time they happen it won’t be a co-incidence either. These riots are only one product of their shite approach.
The police do absolutely fuck all for the majority of us that don’t want Northern Ireland to be this much of a shitshow regards situations like this.
Taking the correct approach and fully enforcing the law against the problematic elements within unionism/loyalism isn’t going to magically create a United Ireland. It’s just makes this region a better area to live.
I genuinely think that most people on here are from other countries and/or have never been near riots. The way the police dealt with these riots is their default tactic.
I get so confused with this sub. Half of the “yes I blame them comments” are upvoted and the other half of the SAME TYPE OF COMMENTS get way downvoted.
What do you people want?
Yes. Standing around with shields doesn’t stop it. Arrest a couple dozen and the disorder will be gone. Just seen a video just now of 2 lads walking past 2 police officers taking a big bin to throw in a fire. PSNI just stood there.
You can’t write off all valid criticisms because of one dramatic picture. That’s not how that works.
Sir this is Reddit, home of the keyboard warrior.
They can’t do they’re jobs without being accused of being heavy handed to one side, then when they do they’re jobs they’re moaned about 🤷♀️ It’s lose, lose either way
I’m sure this cool photo is of a lot of comfort to the immigrants who got forced out of their homes
especially the ones who burnt out the leisure centre in larne because they thought refugees and asylum seekers were inside (thank god they weren’t). trying to burn a building with people in it alive should only EVER be considered attempted murder. in an ideal world, these scumbags will be charged with attempted murder, hate crimes and destruction to the community but the likelihood is that they’ll get off with a vandalism charge, if any charges at all…
I remember when Mark Reckless turned up at an airport in England to confront Romanian arrivals.
He was surrounded by media more than happy to broadcast his racism. Why hasn’t he, or Farage, for that matter, ever been charged with incitement?
Nobody in Ballymena or anywhere else was talking about Romanians until the people at the top whipped this shit up.
The PSNI escorted the Far Right up the Ormeau road, where they attacked people of colour. They were stopped by a handful of ordinary ladies who came out of their houses in their dressing gowns but the PSNI with their riot gear, guns etc, where, what? Not able to? Or did they just not bother?
The PSNI, like any police force, simply exists to do the bidding of the wealthy. Imagine the rioters in Ballymena were attacking a bank or a government building. The PSNI would soon put a stop to that. They exist to protect property and they’ll happily assist a pogrom if it serves those interests but as we can see they certainly won’t put a stop to one.
People can talk about “tactics” all they want. They are only fooling themselves. The RUC was more than capable of marching up the Falls just to remove a tricolour, they were more than able to put a stop to civil rights marches etc but now it’s not possible to stop a pogrom.
Not an ounce of sympathy for the PSNI.
Who took this photograph? It’s very good.
People are genuinely criticising them for not protecting bins against 100+ man strong violent mobs. Saw a video posted on here of two cops standing in watching a large crowd of men set fire to a bin, and comments full of people claiming “psni allowing loyalists to do whatever they want” just no rational thinking at all. Not a fan of PSNI whatsoever but if you start watching the live streams from these things you’ll see they are most definitely trying to get control of these people, they just aren’t going to risk mass violence over a blue bin
Personally, I think the PSNI have to police based on public opinion, politics and tactics, what they can and can’t do. They are so heavily scrutinised over everything they do, so one wrong move and they’re being outed again. Can’t do right for doing wrong.
Much like blue lights, why would they risk their lives running into areas when they know they are outnumbered? They have families too and won’t sacrifice their own life for the job.
Might look like they’re doing nothing but let the idiots exhaust themselves first and then act if they can, makes sense to me. Poor idiots who do this are uneducated and wasting their own time as if any of their acts are ever going to make a difference to society.
I pray for today’s generation as times are only getting worse rather than better 🙏
Thats some photograph all the same.. 📸
This post equates to fuck all. It shows a cop getting attacked. It does *nothing* to show the cops handling the racist thugs responsible for the riots.
