The German U-21 team continues their red-hot form with another offensive masterclass over Czechia. The national youth team is hungry for more titles, as German fans are desperate for some success. The storyline in this one remains as the man of the hour, Nick Woltemade, was involved in pretty much everything Sunday night.
Woltemade continues to thrive
Nick Woltemade is making an argument for player of the tournament. The Stuttgart forward had another impressive performance with a goal and two assists, now reaching six goal contributions after two matches. He really should have had another assist if Nnamdi Collins was not so wasteful with his final product. Woltemade leads the tournament in both goals and assists after this match.
Not his brightest day
Bright Arrey-Mbi is one of the more recognizable names on this squad, but hasn’t provided much to the squad thus far. The former Bayern Munich talent had a poor own goal that summed up his performance quite well. He distributed the ball well but lost both his duels when called upon. After two subpar performances, it could be time to give someone else a shot.
Defense not perfect, but not a concern
What is perhaps most impressive about this squad is the offensive firepower. However, Germany’s defense should not be overlooked. Germany gave very little scoring chances for Czechia this match. An own goal will certainly upset Noah Atubolu, who has been excellent thus far. The other goal seemed to be a disorganization though, with several players in front of goal, but none addressing the player with the ball.
Germany are serious contenders
This squad has shown great signs of promise in their first two matches now. This win solidifies Germany are well coached with an arsenal of different weapons in offense, with great talent around the pitch as well. Tournament favorites, England, slipped up today with a draw against Slovenia, but remain a large test for the Germans next.
