Sometimes needs must, and perhaps it’s just me as I get older, but Tuesday night’s Northern Ireland v Iceland friendly game at Windsor Park has to go down as one of the worst international matches I have watched in a long time.
Maybe we’ve been spoiled of late with our new young guns’ top-drawer performances, but without doubt there is something about June friendlies when players are asked to play international games hot on the heels of a long, hard season.
