Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth appeared to sing his heart out at the Flag Day military parade Saturday.

Thousands gathered for the US Army’s 250th anniversary celebration in Washington DC, which also happened to fall on President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday. The event included fitness challenges, live demonstrations, equipment exhibitions, musical performances, and a cake-cutting event.

Some onlookers noted several “embarrassing” moments from the day – like the soldier’s inability to walk in lockstep or Trump’s drooping eyes during the event. Another pointed out a moment where Hegseth was caught singing along to one of the performances, while First Lady Melania Trump looked like she had fallen asleep.

Country singer Lee Greenwood sang one of his biggest hits “God Bless The USA” at the event. Trump, First lady Melania and Hegseth had front row seats, and the latter seemed to be feeling the music.

The video has been circulating social media, and some users thought the act was unusual.

One said, “It’s definitely a cult!” while another added, “Strange and actually cultish looking.”

While a third said, “He’s so embarrassing!”

“The US Military deserves SO much better!” another user wrote.

But not everyone agreed. Some said he was showing love for his country.

“It’s embarrassing to have love for your country?” one person noted. Another replied: “No, it’s not embarrassing to love your country. To the contrary, it’s essential for a healthy society!”

The parade was anticipated to have a turnout of 200,000 people. The event also prompted “No Kings” protests in nearly 2,000 cities across the country.

Elsewhere, Secretary of State Marco Rubio was caught yawning along with other Republicans.

The Trump Administration official, with a look of sheer disinterest, sat in the viewing stand with one arm slung across his chair as he yawned during the quiet parade.

Several White House officials, including Trump himself, looked very tired and unenthusiastic by the mid-way point of the costly event.
