The Ukrainian U21 national football team secured an important victory in their second match at the 2025 European Championship. In the game against Finland, the “blue and yellow” earned their first win, defeating their opponent 2-0.
This tournament marked the fourth time the U21 team has participated in the European Youth Championship. Their first match ended in a 3-2 loss to Denmark, despite Ukraine taking the lead twice.
In the second round, Ukraine faced the Finnish team, which had drawn 2-2 with the Netherlands in their opening game after losing a 2-0 lead.
The first dangerous moment of the match came in the 20th minute when Volodymyr Brazhko took a free kick that hit the crossbar. In the 28th minute, Vladyslav Vanat opened the scoring by converting a rebound after the goalkeeper’s save.
The second goal for Ukraine came in the 49th minute thanks to Maksym Bragaru, who capitalized on a mistake by the Finnish goalkeeper. Despite the opponent’s pressure in the second half, Ukraine managed to keep a clean sheet, although in the 90+2nd minute captain Volodymyr Brazhko was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.
Thus, Ukraine earned crucial three points and moved up to second place in Group D.
