Saw this on my run this morning up the tow path into Lisburn. I've just been kinda casually monitoring the construction of this piece of modern art/show of inclusivity over the past two months when I run past it.
Nothing says "celebrating culture" like…throwing pallets all over an open green space that could be used for a million more productive/enjoyable things. I'm sure once they construct it properly and it has nice wee decorations like…Anna Lo's face and pictures of the new Yank pope and maybe a few wee statues of Mary, it'll really spruce the place up.
NI is really depressing 🙁

they’re like the zionist yanks moving into palestine with their feet under the table owning the place , and they get funded ! lol
Most people would agree it’s not nice and shouldn’t be allowed whichever tribe is doing it.
All that handy wood being destroyed along with the grass is ridiculous.
Cry more
Get some culture in ye, bigot.
Recycling Centre 🤔. /s😂
Surely, most of the people living in these communities don’t agree with turning it into a landfill site? It’s embarrassing for all involved.
I grew up near an area where bonfires were a massive celebration, even with 3 or 4 smaller fires dotted about to keep people entertained until the main event, with disco, food vans and a lot of drunken idiots.
Personally I have no interest in any of it and never understood why burning crap is important, have went a few times to get a dirty burger from the burger van and then back home, IMO the burger vans are the only thing there worthwhile.
Not a fan of a bonfire buts it the same crappy posts everyday on here about the same thing 😂

Some people just want to watch the world burn….
It would be a terrible shame if someone took their dogshit bags and rammed them between those pallets everyday
There was a foreigner in Ballymena who was taking pallets from one of the bonfire site and making garden furniture from them.
I think the locals put him out during the recent riots.
These bigots are simply wasting their lives building this nonsense. Not to mention the horrific environmental damage.
This and the last week of blatant racism and rioting shows why NI will never change. Anyone who has the opportunity to get out of the place while they are still young will be 100x better off. I go back and visit the place every few years in the summer and after 2 or 3 days I’m ready to get the fuck out of the place again. It’s so depressing and so far behind the rest of the UK.
I’ll never forget when they put Martina Anderson’s poster in blackface on the Botanic kkulture kandle.
Heath and Safety when using (or burning) commercial palettes (all the coloured ones, and also any that have the ‘MB’ chemical fumigation stamp).
This means that the wood is fumigated with a chemical called **methyl bromide.**
Although the use of methyl bromide was banned as a pesticide/fumigant in the EU, it can still be an acceptable treatment under IPPC, you may still find many pallets treated using this method.
Exposure to methyl bromide is highly irritating to the skin, eyes and airways. Irritation of the airways can cause coughing, chest tightness and burning sensation of the nose and throat. It may also cause nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain if it is inhaled.
If methyl bromide is absorbed by the body this can result in stomach upset and damage, tiredness, behaviour changes, confusion and damage to the liver and kidneys. In severe cases methyl bromide may stop proper heart function and cause a build-up of fluid on the lungs, fitting, coma, liver damage, jaundice and death. Some effects may be delayed.

They also can contain/release **Formaldehyde**, again another toxic chemical.
Formaldehyde has been classified as a cancer causing chemical in humans by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).
There is evidence that formaldehyde causes nasal tumours (tumours of the nose) and leukaemia in industrial workers exposed over long periods of time (years).

Enjoy…
Pity they couldn’t put the same effort into making the place look nice. A nice community garden or something. I think that there should be a standard brazier metal thing like they have in England for beacons. That is all you can fill with wood, make it about the size of a car. No tyres, no sofas and no one falling off it or burning the side of houses. UK government has no balls though.
This pic makes me look all the more forward to my holiday down south with the family quickly approaching. Doubly more important of late due to me being married to a Serbian woman.
Such an eyesore.
They could use the wood to build stuff for the local community instead of burning it. Only thing they’re giving the local community is toxic air quality and an eye sore for months until the grass grows back.
Filthy disgusting hovel
Most educated and decent people know this doesn’t belong in the present, nevermind the future. It will be a good day for our society when this behaviour is left behind.
It needs handled with the law in the same way it would elsewhere in the UK. Having this become some sort of sensible firework display or something similar will be good for us all.
Its a celebration of history and culture lol
Why dont you keep running and get on with your life? Standing taking photos in the hedges, very odd behaviour.
I get why people don’t like bonfires, I’m not enthralled with them either but I cannot abide the borderline classist, self righteous sneering attitude people like you take on here, which is in my opinion all performative for easy karma on a sub that obviously leans nationalist.
The greatest irony is whilst many of these infernos are known to promote hate, when you see them being discussed on platforms such as this all it typically achieves is producing more hate as many in the comments take it as a green light to chastise and demonise the entire PUL community.
I mean at the end of the day, we all know whatever we say here isn’t going to make any difference to the people who make these pyres.
PS, *did you hide in the bushes to take this photo?* 📸
Saw a video on Tiktok of one of the wee rioting shites getting a clip around the ear for trying take some pallets to burn. “That’s wat the biinzz ar 4!”
Strange behaviour taking pictures/spying on others. You must be fun at parties.
Sad people
Such a waste of timber, and it’s every single year.
Hillhall Lisburn?
