Final details are being worked out to get Lithuanian citizens in the targeted zones to the border with Jordan and Egypt, the NKVC head has said.

“The airspace, as you know it, is closed, so today we have had long consultations with specialists and experts and made a decision to use another way to evacuate our citizens – by land. A route has now been drawn up and the final steps are being coordinated to use this alternative. This is the route from Tel Aviv to the border with Jordan and Egypt,” Vilmantas Vitkauskas told reporters on Monday afternoon.

“Jordan is the priority. The plan is to operate a charter flight to bring all our citizens on one plane to Lithuania,” he added.

Lithuanians are set to leave Israel by buses. Their evacuation is expected to start on Tuesday, according to the official.

Earlier on Monday, a senior adviser at the NKVC, Darius Buta, told ELTA 125 Lithuanian citizens, persons with a Lithuanian permanent residence permit and some others wanted to be evacuated.

On early Friday, Israel carried out a large-scale operation against Iranian nuclear facilities, military commanders and senior scientists. Tehran responded with hundreds of ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.
