On the one hand, I’d love to see how the red-states would react if the federal assistance they received was limited by what they contributed.
On the other hand, the only way we’re going to claw back ground in the red-states is through education, and limiting that funding would be counter-productive.

This is what really bothers me about the SALT nonsense in the current bill. Low tax states act like they are more efficient and don’t want to “subsidize” high tax states that actually pay for their public services rather than rely on federal handouts. If they want to cap deductions on local taxes, then we should also cap federal spending on derelict states. You can only receive what you paid in federal tax revenue.
Other than my clean drinking water, electricity, roads I drive on, police and fire departments, food and drugs inspected for safety I don’t get nothin from the gubment. 🙃

It is kind of mean for the rest of us force the socialisms on conservatives in red states. We should just modify programs to eliminate coverage for non-conservatives, and require proof of not voting for Trump in the past two elections to qualify. Everyone wins. Except for the kids of conservatives, but this loss is a rounding error for them.
