Why Climate Goals Aren’t a Lost Cause—Even If We Overshoot Them | Earth will likely warm by more than 1.5 degrees Celsius, but we can’t give up on trying to get temperatures back down

Giving up means killing the planet so No we can’t give up but we sure the hell could stop burning oil for energy. We have the tech now and it wouldn’t take to long to switch over. It’s time to stand up to the oil industry and climate deniers or watch the future we want for our kids disappear.
Doing everything we can, individually, helps while governments everywhere get paid off by powerfully wealthy industries not to act.
Eventually, we will reach a point where even stalwart deniers will get on board to seriously start mitigating this tremendous challenge our entire planet faces. The longer we don’t act, the longer and more difficult it will be to recover by far.
Can’t give up, but we need to be aware of the challenges of bringing temps back down and the fact that some things will be fundamentally altered
1.5 is only truly dead if don’t engage in counter measures like geo engineering.
Hopefully we can get the CO2 back down between 300 and 350 ppm.
People are already working on several types of Carbon Dioxide Removal. We will need both nature based and technological methods. 572 CDR suppliers are listed at [CDR.fyi](https://www.cdr.fyi/)
They will need time and some funding to be able to scale up to climate relevant levels.
It also hasn’t been said enough that what we do beyond net-zero matters. If CO2 levels stay above 450ppm for a couple decades, that’s bad. If it stays there for a century, that’s much worse. We are out of time to act if we want to avoid missing these goals, but we have decades of decision making ahead of us to avoid further damage.
But, we have to give up on unrealistic climate goals. There was a report that said we might even hit 2C avg by 2029 due to the tipping points. So, why is the article assuming the overshoot will be with 2C. Even if you the report about 2C by 2029 is wrong, there is no stopping 2C imo. If all emission are stopped, Earth will continue to warm by at least 0.5C. This is not even considering the tipping points.
So, if we want solutions and if we want to set goals lets be realistic.
Giving up basically is like shooting ourselves in the face.
