Two men have been arrested following an altercation in Belfast city centre this afternoon.

Police were called to the incident in the Castle Place area at around 12.15pm on Wednesday, June 18, following reports of a disturbance involving two men.

It is understood that a street preacher and another man got into an altercation, with both being arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, including disorderly behaviour.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police received and responded to a report of an altercation involving two men in the Castle Place area of Belfast City Centre at approximately 12.15pm today, Wednesday 18th June.

"Two men, aged 60 and 49, were arrested at the scene, both on suspicion of disorderly behaviour and other offences, and enquiries are continuing into the circumstances of what happened.

"Anyone who witnessed the altercation is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 640 18/06/25."

  9. I’m all for free speech, but using loudspeakers and megaphones even for buskers. It’s a pain in the hole.

  10. I think if the street preachers are allowed to do their stuff they should have PVP enabled. Like, you can just run up and take their loudspeaker or their microphone and they can’t call the cops, they just have to try and catch you and get it back. Obviously you can’t punch them or whatever, it’s just that they have to defend their items if they want to use them to shout.

    It satisfies everyone really: the eejits get to keep spouting their shite, and we get a way to shut them up.

  13. Feel like anything that amps your voice shouldn’t be allowed in the city center. Go down and scream your head off whether it be Jesus or queer rights and when your voice gives out thats probably a good time to pack it in for the day.
