The Norwegian national broadcaster NRK has officially confirmed that Norway will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, which will be held in Austria.

As is tradition, the country’s entry will be selected through its long-running and popular national final, Melodi Grand Prix. The festival is expected to take place in early 2026, continuing its role as the platform for discovering Norway’s Eurovision representative and song.

With this announcement, Norway joins the growing list of countries that have already secured their place at Europe’s biggest musical event, reaffirming its commitment to the contest and its dedicated fan base.

This year, Norway was represented by Kyle Alessandro with the song “Lighter.” The young singer, only 19 years old and hailing from Steinkjer, won Melodi Grand Prix 2025 in a one-night final held at Oslo Spektrum on 15 February. His performance captured both the public’s and international jury’s votes, earning him a total of 307 points. At the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland, Kyle qualified from the first semi-final and ultimately finished 18th in the Grand Final, scoring 89 points.
