Industrial production in Moldova rose by 1% year-on-year in April 2025, marking the second straight month of growth, following a 0.1% increase in the previous month.
The expansion was largely driven by a record surge in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (88.1% vs -5.1% in March), which contributed to a 5.7% overall increase in total industry output.
Conversely, production declined significantly for mining and quarrying (-2.3% vs 28.6%) and in the manufacturing industry (-5.2% vs 1.8%).
On a monthly basis, total industrial production plunged by 20.9% in April, the sharpest decline since January last year, worsening from an upwardly revised 4.2% drop in the preceding month.
