Its the new normal. What can we do about it? We are on a runaway path to +4C by 2070
Smartphones used to be not normal. It didn’t take long for them to become normal.
Until/unless emissions drop drastically, smoke season is going to remain normal.
It is now. The old world is gone.
Back when some people still got paper newspapers (2018, I think) I saw a front page of the Seattle times that said “are smoke seasons the new normal?” Or something to that effect.
My thought at the time was that nothing will ever last long enough to feel normal again, who knows, maybe the droughts will be so bad that the forest will stop replenishing, or we’ll start having monsoon rains that wash us directly into the sound in the 2030s
