It is planned that on 22 June, these individuals will travel on an evacuation flight from Sharm El Sheikh to Chișinău, Moldova. The evacuation flight is being organised by the Embassy of Ukraine to Israel in cooperation with the Embassy of Ukraine to Egypt.

To date, a total of 28 Latvian nationals have left Israel via evacuation flights organised by Lithuania and Slovakia through Jordan. Meanwhile, 13 nationals have departed independently.

Currently, 57 individuals are registered in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Consular Register, 11 of whom are short-term travellers. Evacuation flights are prioritised for Latvian nationals who are in Israel on a temporary basis, such as for tourism or private visits.

As Israeli airspace remains closed to flights, the EU and partner countries are operating evacuation flights from neighbouring countries – Jordan and Egypt. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to cooperate with the EU and partner countries to assist Latvian nationals who are in Israel on a short-term basis.

At present, departure from Israel is possible via the following routes:

Land route to Jordan

Visas can be obtained at the border.
Jordanian airspace is currently open.
Border crossing operating hours:

!!! Allenby Bridge/King Hussein crossing – temporarily closed to travellers,
Yitzhak Rabin/Wadi Araba crossing: 08:00–20:00,
Jordan River/Sheikh Hussein crossing: 09:00–16:00.

Land route to Egypt

Taba border crossing is open 24/7.

A state of emergency has been declared in Israel, and all official institutions, including the Embassy of Latvia, are currently closed until further notice. However, Latvian diplomats continue to carry out their duties.

According to official data, 6,062 Latvian nationals reside in Israel, and 3 in Iran.
