A new multi-year study of a Northern Colorado solar energy farm has found that the grasses growing in the shade of the panels have significantly increased their growth, particularly during droughts.

The system of panels boosted the production level of those grasses by 19 percent compared to a control group within dry years.

However, throughout an average year, grasses in those same areas only attained 94 percent of the production of grasses outside the solar field.
