Israeli rescue teams are conducting search operations to retrieve Israeli residents trapped under a two-storey building that was bombed by an Iranian drone in a northern Israel town on Saturday.

According to Israeli media, rescue authorities are seeking to retrieve and identify those trapped under the building in Beit She’an- which suffered significant damage.

The Jerusalem Post reported that an Iranian Shahed-136 drone crashed into the building, prompting a response from Israel’s emergency service, Magen David Adom (MDA), which later confirmed that there were no casualties or injuries.

According to news agency AFP, photographs from the scene of Saturday’s drone strike in Beit She’an showed a gaping hole in the side of a building, alongside a crater and mounds of earth likely caused by the drone’s explosives.

The Times of Israel reported that the incident may mark the first time an Iranian drone has struck a populated area since the conflict began on June 13- but this claim has yet to be confirmed.

Saturday’s aerial attack came after sirens were triggered in northern Israel, the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, and the Arabah region which borders Jordan.

The Israeli army also said that a drone was intercepted in the Arabah area, and it was investigating.

Separately, the Israeli military said several drones were spotted and intercepted across northern Israel on Saturday morning, following an overnight barrage of 40 drones.

AFP reported that the northern Israeli port city of Haifa has been repeatedly targeted, along with Tel Aviv and the southern city of Beersheba.

Official figures indicate that 25 people have been killed in Israel in Iranian retaliatory strikes since Israel began its attack on Iran, which has killed hundreds of Iranian civilians.
