1cm hail, constant lightning, thunder that shook the ground. Most violent storm I've experienced.

  2. Could see the lightning and hear the rumbling from Tyneside. Must have been a monster! What’s the aftermath like this morning?

  5. Yorkshire – We had literally nothing. I think we had orange weather warnings for thunderstorm and had a mild breeze and no rain.

    Dude my ‘prayers’(not religious) go out for you cause wow. Global warming.

  6. Liverpool here: it hasn’t rained (yet?) and no thunder and lightning, despite all the warnings

    It’s so hot and humid I’m sweating constantly so we could do with a load of rain to bring the temperature down

  7. Oh no! Hawick would have a cheek flooding, considering the length of time they have been working on the flood prevention scheme.

  10. We had a wee bit of drizzle yesterday and it’s just started a bit more heavy now. By the way I love Eyemouth I used to stay every summer, some of the family still have a caravan there.

    We had a tiny bit of rain and thunder. Not the storm the weather warned about and still still hot – but also I’m glad we haven’t flooded

    Was waiting for a thunderstorm all night, would’ve been lovely, didn’t get so much as a bit of drizzle. Just more dry and hot.

  21. Hope everyone is OK. That looks horrible. Im in Lancashire and it skirted passed up around 7pm last night. Lots of loud thunder and a few lightening strikes but it looks like we missed the worst of it.

  23. We saw the lightning and caught the edge of the rain in North Berwick. Lightning was crazy and rain was torrential, but no flooding like that near us.

  26. Nah, lost power for a few hours but think that’s the extent of the damage in my area.

  27. My grandmother lived there until recently, Eyemouth was always getting the brunt of the bad weather. Hope everyone’s okay

  29. Oh, so *thats* where all the rain went. I was wondering. A couple of days ago they were forecasting heavy rain and thunderstorms here in the NW for last night/today, but the forecast changed yesterday and all we got was a bit of drizzle. Maybe a mild shower in there somewhere. I guess it all just concentrated itself further north.

  32. It was absolutely bonkers last night! Was not expecting it to last as long as it did, had or go around closing all the windows as it was just SO LOUD. Genuinely made me jump a couple of times 😅 My parents’ garage flooded a little (unsurprising given it’s at the bottom of a chilled drive) and I guess the hailstones knocked a bit of the rendering/stones off the side of the house, but other than that, you woke up and it was like nothing had happened. Great British summertime 👌🏻

  35. Ahhh fuck, as someone whose house has just become prone to flooding my heart is breaking for all those people. It’s so miserable.

  39. Doesn’t look deep enough to warrant building an ark though. You could probably get away with just putting armbands on all the animals.
