I salute the sterling service my no-brand, no-idea-where-it-came-from, tower fan is performing to this day. o7
I splashed out on a Lidl AC unit but my tower fan is still putting in the work by pushing the cool air further in to the house.
I love Stephen Collins.
I tried to buy a fan from this website called “Only fans”. Boy was I surpised!

Always a laugh when it’s a blisteringly hot day and you see houses with windows and curtains wide open letting all that delightful energy inside
My mum made my stepdad get their (rather good actually) table fan out of the attic last night because her poor dog had been suffering all day from the heat, thunder and all sorts happening that day. It helped him calm down to sleep.
I would absolutely buy the fuck out of a fan that sounds like a Spitfire
Glorious sound
This is definitely my house. We’ve three fans we’ve had so long I’ve forgotten how we got them.
They are yellowed and just about functional.
My 16” pedestal fan bought in the heatwave of 2003 (thank you B&Q) still manages to outcompete many other newer fans. Dyson and a desktop meaco in staring at you both. In fact only one that’s come close is my Vacmaster air mover and that is a damn beast
While we *have* bought good newer fans (and a portable AC) we still have the old yellow shitty fans. I don’t know why.
The version in this post is edited really weirdly together; it’s missing the first panel wheras the original isn’t and just has the panels laid out in a grid as you would expect: [https://bsky.app/profile/stephencollins.bsky.social/post/3lp4ydxhrf22e](https://bsky.app/profile/stephencollins.bsky.social/post/3lp4ydxhrf22e)
A lot of this guy’s stuff is pretty great actually. Thanks for sharing.
People are just stupid buying all sorts of crap fans with strange designs that cost more and do fuck all. Or some wank Dyson thing that looks cool but is just as weak and costs £200.
The thing moves air like a motherfucker. Obviously nowhere near as good as air con but still.
Great comic, terrible screen shot job
This is very Reddit
Was this meant to be funny?
I’ve seen people mentioning that fans don’t work, but mine does a good job at keeping me cool. I have kept the curtains closed for the most part, so that has probably helped. Can’t afford A/C, but my fan does just fine. I need to buy another one though.
Local firm, always makes me laugh when I see their van..
I bought 2 meaco sempte fans for my small hot flat and I think it should be against the law for any other fans to claim they are fans. Biggest life upgrade in a long time.
No matter how much I explain, complain, and suffer, my mum just will not stop throwing every single curtain in the house open as soon as we wake up. “It lets the natural light in,” she says, “makes your brain feel better.” Well my brain would probably also appreciate not boiling alive in my skull
This is one of those things that everyone can relate to, and that’s what makes it a good comic strip.
On a more serious note, I would recommend window tinting to everyone. Paid for it a few years ago and it shaves off several degrees if any parts of your house with windows are in direct sunlight for extended periods of time. One off payment, years of relief. Nowhere near as expensive as air con and is easy to do either yourself or professionally (which I paid for). 95%+ UV reflection takes the edge off massively whilst still getting natural light into the home. Makes for much cooler evenings.
Sit Infront of the Vacmaster and youll shrivel up quicker than a party horn 🥳🥶
My old desk fan finally died after a decade of service, last year.
Bought a Dreo tower fan to replace it. I don’t know what black magic was used to make, but even on its lowest setting the breeze is so cool I often consider putting on a jumper when it’s on.
Cheap plastic desk fan “lost power”? Take off the front grille (30 seconds), and wipe dust off the edges of each fan blade with some dry kitchen roll (30 seconds). Replace the grille.
Hey presto, full power is restored. I do it once every month or so.
Recently back from Corfu, and have definitely mentioned that parts of the UK have been hotter than there. And I’ve been thinking a lot about how my fan sounds like a prop plane. There’s no cover on it. It’s just the spinning blades. The jeopardy makes me feel alive.
As a Texan I can not understand why the English can not grasp that air conditioning is a real thing that does exist.
My parents just splashed £270 on a Dyson. I keep saying “no, you idiots, keep the windows SHUT” but apparently I am not worth listening to.

Have two of these and they’re brilliant.
