The BBC upholding journalistic standards

  1. Well, we all remember the “Misstiano Penaldo” incident… hilarious, but so off brand

  2. Well at least this way you know someone’s using old fashioned TTS instead of just getting ChatGPT to bash out articles.

  3. And what about the fixed cure shed Yule? Are they not concerned about our Christmas hams?

  4. Also “season’s”. The BBC is hopeless these days.

  5. Let’s not be too quick to judge

My understanding of contemporary sport science is flimsy at best. I can’t rule out that a ‘relaxing nibble’ of sorts isn’t key to their recuperation strategy

  6. A stock hero image, two single-sentence paragraphs in a row, and begining a sentence with “and” aren’t great either. Also, apparently “season” is possessive.

  7. See mistakes like this on TV subtitling all the time now, too.

  8. I’ve noticed that BBC news is riddled with typos all the time these days. They need to advertise for a proofreader (so that I can apply).

  9. Well at least we know it wasn’t written by AI. AI wouldn’t make that mistake

  10. Nah, they’re true. The players don’t get snack time during games! No rest bites for them!

  11. It’s just a damp squid. Shouldn’t be putting journalists on pedal stools

  12. Won’t be putting that writer on a peddle stool any time soon.

  13. I’m convinced all the BBC’s articles are written by unpaid interns. All the actual employees are busy driving down to their 2nd homes in the south of France. They’re all on the BBC gravy train. I wish I was.

  14. Wait until you read some of Reach’s web sites. Those ‘local’ papers that are just the same story reproduced across 50 different titles with click bait titles and AI generated slop.

  15. As bad as this is, the absolute state of any local newspapers website is absolutely off the charts

  16. Odd that the apostrophe in Season’s wasn’t picked up. Crap grammar.

  17. A perfect eggcorn!

(Last time I said this about a great eggcorn I was called condescending. I don’t think anyone but me even knows what that word means. Hehehehhehe etc.)

  18. I get mildly irritated when people say “on tender hooks”!

  19. Quality journalism had just been taken for granite.

  20. Need a rest bite from all those seasonal Jams they’ve packed.

  21. Rigorous Standard English is a result of colonisation and must be decolonised. It’s oppression.

    Or sumfink

  22. Yeah, I for one definitely did not have to Google the actual spelling…

  23. Hahaha so I know for a fact the BBC Sport Director Alex Kay-Jelski is really big on ironing out these rookie errors.

He’s also really big on calling reporters out for this shit especially when it’s on social media.

I also know he LOVES Reddit and will no doubt have seen this multiple times to ruin his day.
