4. This isn’t really surprising nor is this the first time it happened. Most likely Iran warned the US beforehand so they could evacuate troops.

   Since Iran is busy getting absolutely humiliated by Israel it would make a lot of sense for Iran to pursue de-escalation. They might talk big publicly to make their supporters and proxies happy but unless they want to see an actual attempt at regime change I imagine Iran is going to be very careful about how they retaliate.

6. Israeli media reports at least 10 missiles launched towards US bases in Iraq and Qatar.

7. There’s at least some chance this is basically scripted, meaning Iran informed the United States (either directly or through an intermediary) ahead of time so everyone could take shelter.

   If it’s not scripted, 80% chance I’d wager that United States responds with force. If an American is killed, it’ll be overwhelming force.

   Edit: NYT basically confirms it was scripted. Per NYT:

9. Iran is essentially a weak opponent at this point of time. This is them posturing aggressively and striking where it doesn’t really hurt. It’s a show of force to save the face and de escalate the situation.

    Al Jazeera’s tone will change 180 degrees, and Iran will lose its popular base in the Arab world.

    Qatar will pave the way for US forces to strike Iran directly from Al Udeid Air Base, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Israel also joins these campaigns from that base.

    All countries attacked by Iran will open their airspace against Iran. At the very least, there will be a reason to bomb those military bases.

    The Gulf states have taken a neutral stance from the start. The American and Israeli aircraft bombing Tehran do not take off from the Gulf. This is just sheer stupidity.

    Khamenei’s regime, you have signed your death warrant.

13. Another nothing burger like their “response” in 2019. Iran’s military capabilities have been grossly overstated and this conflict has exposed them.

14. Iran is choosing to deescalate (at least with the US), and even the most recent message from Trump has nothing to do with the strikes, but rather HIS strikes on fordow and the other nuclear facilities and how effective they were.

    There is still the war between Israel and Iran. Israel externally claims they want to slow down their operations, maybe thats true, but it seems like there is still a lot of unaccounted for HEU that could be eventually be turned into multiple nuclear weapon if Iran wanted..

15. This was completely scripted. In fact, they asked President Trump exactly where and when he would like those missiles to target, but apologized beforehand that their precision may not be top notch due to the embargo against Iran.

16. Iran is doing exactly what they should. I anticipate that they continue these small strikes and poking the bear (US) with the end goal of eventually triggering a ground war in Iran. I would typically say there’s no chance of that working, but considering the incompetence of the current US administration + Israel likely being supportive of this move, the possibility of a ground war is certainly on the table. If Iran can trigger a ground war, the US has no chance and will overextend themselves, driving themselves further into debt and removing the USD as the global reserve currency.
