Someone raised a great point in another thread, this all is happening at a very convenient time for American oil companies. Fracking companies need oil to be priced highly to make their operations financially viable. Others will just want the price high because money. It’s also convenient that given the rollback of protected land and that land coming up for sale, who do you think will be buying that land? Oil companies. So they’ll make tons of money off their existing plants, and then be able to expand significantly due to this new land and being able to drill on it.
Really hope I’m wrong on this, but given how things have gone with Trump then I believe most companies will act out of malice and opportunism.
