European stock markets opened with widespread gains. The German DAX and Euro Stoxx 50 indices both rose nearly 2%, while the UK’s FTSE 100 increased by 0.66% and Italy’s FTSE MIB climbed 1.5%.
Airline stocks experienced a significant boost, with Air France-KLM shares jumping 7.8%. Meanwhile, energy stocks faced declines due to falling oil prices. Repsol (REPYY, Financial) saw its stock drop by 4.8%, and Shell’s shares decreased by 4.6%.
In Germany, defense companies Rheinmetall, Hensoldt, and Renk experienced a 3% decline in their stock prices. On the other hand, UK banking stocks showed positive momentum, with Barclays, Lloyds, and HSBC Holdings each gaining between 2.2% and 3%.
