A top loyalist has been badly beaten after a mistaken attack on the home of a neighbour during the race riots.

The 45-year-old man, who we cannot name for legal reasons, required extensive hospital treatment following the incident on the UDA-controlled Rathcoole Estate in Newtownabbey.

Sources said the well-respected senior loyalist was arrested after allegedly being involved in smashing the windows of a property on Eastway in Rathcoole last Sunday.
But rather than being home to migrants, the property is the home of friends of the suspect’s family, according to sources in the area.

“Turns out the fella is a neighbour to his relatives. It’s very embarrassing for him.

“The house was sprayed with ‘locals only’ a couple of weeks back, but the man living there is Northern Irish.

“Seems (he) got carried away and put the windows in, but the fella living there ran after him and beat him up badly.

The incident took place following a week of race-fuelled rioting and intimidation across Northern Ireland, sparked after a teenage girl was allegedly raped in Ballymena earlier this month.

The PSNI said: “Police in Newtownabbey arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of criminal damage after receiving a report that windows had been smashed at a house in the Eastway area of Rathcoole after 11pm on Sunday, June 15.

“The man was released on bail to allow for further police enquiries.”

  1. Probably ‘Disco 2000’ because it’s got the right tempo, but ‘Common People’ would’ve been apt

  2. It’s weird that the BellyTelly can manage the quotes around “beaten to pulp” but not around “wrong”, implying that there was a “right” house to start wrecking

  3. Scundered for him- poor fella just got carried away, lost the run of himself- easily done. Hope hes alright

  4. Why the fuck can he not be named so we can all laugh?

  5. ”well respected” and ”smashing windows of a property” aren’t normally phrases that go together. But this is Rathcoole.

  6. >Sources said the well-respected senior loyalist was arrested after allegedly being involved in smashing the windows of a property on Eastway in Rathcoole last Sunday.

    Well-respected.

  7. Honest mistake. I heard the neighbour had been on the sunbeds getting a base layer for Tenerife. /s

  8. What does one need to do, to become known as a ‘top loyalist’?

Is it an earned title? Or (as I’d imagine) is it more a case of collecting 8 penguin wrappers and having enough for the membership fee handy in your piggy bank.

You’d imagine instances such as this might earn you a demerit, “ten points off Slytherin” type of thing.

  9. The suspect, who we can only refer to as ‘Pliers’ is a well respected member of the local Protestant fraternal paramilitary organisation and has held several top positions within the sectarian murder gang including ‘Director of Persuasive Payment Solutions’ and ‘Mobility Adjustment Specialist (Knee and Ankle Division)’.

Mr Pliers also recorded leisurely pursuits such as a keen interest in the personal testing of chemicals and stated his primary skills included conflict escalation, conducting head measurements on foreign nationals and sampling copious amounts of Monk-brewed health accentuating tonic wines.

  10. Yet again, people who run around putting people out of their homes for no reason other than being the wrong race are labelled “well respected” and “top loyalist” by our media.

Meanwhile, palestine action are labelled terrorists. Another week, another showcase of hypocrisy where you’re a terrorist for supporting palestine and you’re anything but for using fear and violence to enforce your far right political views on your own community.

  11. Glad he got beat up by the house owner, I’m sure he felt like big man that night nursing his injuries

  12. There are times when taxpayer funded healthcare is a negative thing.
