I'm posting this out of sheer frustration and as a warning to others so no one else goes through what I'm experiencing with Sunrise.

I signed a contract with them and explicitly requested (TWICE) that a spending limit of 50 CHF be placed on my international usage. Guess what? First bill: 511 CHF. Second bill: 211 CHF. All in the first two months. This is INSANE. They let international charges rack up with no block, no alert, nothing.

I called their support over 10 times. Either the call was dropped or I was transferred endlessly between agents who did absolutely NOTHING. No resolution. No help.

I opened more than 3 CASES, been calling them for a month and all of them were closed without any explanation. When I asked why, they just said "case closed." No refund, no proper response, no accountability.

I’m seriously at the end of my patience and my mental health is suffering because of this stress. It’s not just bad service — it’s straight-up abuse.

I've now escalated this to:

https://www.konsumentenschutz.ch/spenden_konsumentenschutz_foerdern/

I will take every legal step I can and I’m sharing this everywhere: Reddit, Google reviews, forums, social media — because people need to know how Sunrise treats its customers.

If you’re thinking of signing with them — don’t.

They’ll smile at the start and then leave you to drown in hidden fees, blocked support lines, and closed cases.

Check SRF statistics, they have the most open disputes in instance by far which tells you how WORSE their service is !

Feel free to DM me if you’ve had similar experiences. We should unite and expose this kind of treatment.

  1. That’s why I refuse to pay for international service to any swiss provider and block any roaming on my devices.

  2. Sunrise and service are non-existent.

You get what you pay for, I guess…

  3. Yes, I have been a loyal customer for years but I have had a terrible experience with them on a few occasions the past few months. It’s so bad that even signing a new customer to my plan (my wife) is a pain and nothing is going smoothly. I really don’t understand what happened to them.

  4. Are you American? #karen #iwanttospeaktothemanager

Despite what you have requested during setup, ultimately you are responsible for the charges on your contract – including checking any limiting settings are correctly applied.

  5. They’re shit but how on earth did you run up a CHF500 bill without realising?

  6. Yeah they’re an absolute nightmare to deal with. But you have to go to cockpit.sunrise.ch and tick the box “cost control for data roaming” and set the monthly limit below for costs outside of your subscription to something like CHF50. Traveling a lot and never got charged a cent more than expected

  7. Sunrise is utter shit, but it is partly on you. Why does no one buy esims around here?

  8. Is that limit written down anywhere in a binding document like your contract (not worthless email)? If yes, then you have a chance, if no, you’re probably SOL.

  9. Yes, Sunrise is terrible. Wanted to switch back to prepaid and announced that I’d like to use the budget prepaid for 10 francs per month. Lo and behold, Sunrise (without telling me) instead activated the premium prepaid option that costs 2.50 PER DAY.

They also used to call me every single day for months when I still used a subscription with lifetime discount. Never picked up, but they kept trying day after day after day.

  10. You can apply the block yourself through the app. Never had your issues, maybe yes a 10 min wait like every other provider

  11. Ils ont leur process, bien rôdé. Si tu veux t’en écarter, c’est le bordel. C’était une erreur de ta part de croire que ta demande orale serait intégrée a ton abonnement sont faire de vérification.

  12. New Generation? = Always the others are to blame?

You requested something and didn’t get a confirmation for it, thats the case as it seems? you have nothing on paper? why did you still do international calls/usage then?

i understand the frustration, but you also didn’t control yourself as it seems? checking what is included in your abo and so on. also checking the web portal from sunrise how high your bill is? there are also international packages to buy.

and yeah, you can phone call someone through whatsapp or telegram and thats for free (if you are connected through wireless)

no i’m not from sunrise, i’m just a guy that informs myself first and read contracts before signing them 😀

  13. Gee guess I am switching service lines when I go back to Switzerland.

  14. Try sending them a registered letter. Had a problem with salt with unjustified charges. Spent a lot of time on the phone and email with them and it did nothing. In the letter, I reported all the interactions I had with them and said I am expecting a full refund or it would escalate. The day they received the registered letter they called me and they said I was right and apologized. I ended up being refunded 2-3 weeks later.

  15. why do you guys even talk to the operators all the time? you can do all that yourself when you login to your account

  16. Wow that’s madness. Galaxus is on another level with customer service, I advise you to try it. The international usage limit is on by default

  17. sunrise is an absolute scam company

    just as salt

    and swisscom, yeah, they’re overpriced

problem: a triopoly does not help the market, but can not be solved differently, sadly

  18. For now, the advice is simply: Stick with Swisscom coverage (Swisscom, Wingo). Everything else is just plain sh*t.

  19. I mean, track your own usage? Don‘t use mobile internet? Costs come from minutes talked on the phone, texts sent and Mbs of internet used….
I‘ve never heard of a spending limit set by the provider, sounds like babysitting. You seem to just be browsing as usual abroad.

  20. Not only Sunrise, ironically, Switzerland has first class living standards with the worst customer services

  21. The service was good back when they were still called Diax. But that was quite a while ago.

  22. Can’t you set this limit in their website? You can with talktalk and IIRC yallo.

  23. Also had a nightmare with them. I had to call them every year to get a new offer. Every year there were some problems like getting double billed or service just not working anymore. Then a few years ago I didn’t have internet for 2 weeks (and I mean, all I wanted is to get a new discount, not a new product). I called them and told them I wanna cancel immediately since I’m paying for a service that I’m not getting and this gives me the right to step back from my new contract.

I switched to yallo which is still sunrise but I don’t have to bother with yearly calls. I didn’t have any problems so far. Well, yallo tv kinda sucks but I only use it for the occasional sport game once or twice a year anyway

  24. I recently cancelled and they immediately cut my rebate… so petty. Only confirmed my decision.

  25. I am with Yallo (a Sunrise subsidiary) and I am quite happy with them. No issue at all.

  26. Salt network is the worst, swisscom overcharges and Sunrise is just about ok imo

  27. You should tey yallo for even bigger rollercoasters 🙂

  28. Sunrise & Salt are a shitshow. Go Wingo and forget all these shady, intransparent tactics for good.

  29. Yep. Also made terrible experiences with yallo. I’ve left.
