Paris, June 27, 2025 – Macif announced in a press release on Friday that, as of July 1, it will no longer invest in companies developing new liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminals. It becomes the fourth French life insurer to take steps to reduce support for LNG expansion, thereby recognizing the harmfulness and incompatibility of LNG expansion with the goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050. Reclaim Finance acknowledges this measure and calls on the two major French life insurers, Crédit Agricole Assurances and AXA, to follow the path laid out by their peers, including Macif.
