The ‘Kneecap’ at Glastonbury fiasco reminds me of the Father Ted episode ‘The passion of St. Tibulus’ where the protest against the movie caused more people to want to see it…

The truth is Starmer very likely doesn’t actually care if Kneecap see a surge in popularity due being censored. My guess would be that he has to condemn them because if the doesn’t, and his political opponents do, then he’s on the back foot.
Like him or hate him, Starmer knew going into this that the ban would make Kneecap more popular.
The interesting thing is political discourse doesn’t usually get talked about in these chess like terms, it just doesn’t seem to resonate with the public. If it was we’d see opposition parties focus their argument on the obvious outcome of a ban generating more popularity.
It’s the single oddest win-win situation going.

It’s interesting how a controversial political situation between two countries somehow always tends to open a strong reaction regarding a completely separate country with completely different circumstances. Both are unrelated but at this moment the unrelated conflict is highlighted?
