Hey,
I just moved to Germany and into a new apartment. Got this machine with the apartment and I've never used a machine without a timer. I'm assuming I need to monitor the cycles?
How do I dry the stuff?
I do the Öko-Programm. You just turn it on and go check after the time it says it should be done.
Drying is different. Dryers aren’t as common, and in this case you can go get a drying rack from Aldi or Jysk or IKEA for 10€. In the summer you can leave it outside on good weather days and the clothes dry fast.
you dont have to monitor it. it stops when its done. you set one of the washing settings and press start. you dry it by hanging it from a rack.
You dry it on a drying rack in the apartment. Remember to air out the apartment 3-4 times a day min to stop mold from growing.
For the washer: you don’t need to monitor the cycle, you turn the knob to point to the cycle you wanna use, put in the detergent and press start. Then it runs the cycle and beeps when it’s done (normally around 2 hours)
Nope, just set the Programm you want to use, and press start.
It won’t show the time remaining, but it’ll use it internally.
Use any of the 30-40°C programs.
Some people wash towels, bed linen and underwear on higher temps.
No idea how long those programs will run, but you’ll figure it out.
For drying, many people use a laundry rack, in German that’s a Wäscheständer. They’re available for around 20-25€ (or more if you feel fancy) in stores like many shops that carry household items. (Kodi, action, Kaufland, sometimes they’re also in the special offers of Lidl, Aldi, Penny etc).
You turn the dial to the program in question and start the machine. The machine will execute a set program. Each program will run for a certain length of time that is not immediately obvious. No need to monitor anything.
This looks like a washer, not a washer and dryer (those are rare in Germany). Thus you need to put up your laundry on a clothes line or drying rack (Wäscheständer). Buy one. Try Action, Rossmann, Müller, Kaufland or TeDi.
The programs have set cycles, you don’t need a timer. It’ll just stop when it’s done. You should check regularly though so you won’t leave the wet laundry in there too long (it’ll start to smell after a couple hours).
If you don’t have a drier, you dry it on a laundry rack or the designated area in the house (can be cellar or attic). If you dry it on a rack in your flat you need to air the room very well.
You take them out of the washing machine & hang on the drying rack for drying. Unless you have a separate dryer, because this is a washing machine, not Washtrockner.
And the washing cycle lenght depends on the program you select – the program wheel will keep slowly spining to visualy indicate how much time is left for the wash
You don’t have to monitor it in the sense that it will do something you don’t want it to do, it will just stop when it is done. However, since you don’t want to leave your damp clothes in the machine too long, and not all machines beep when they are done, you might want to note how long each program takes, and get back to the machine after that.
You can also google for the manufacturer and model and “bedienungsanleitung” (= manual), with a bit of luck it already has an english version included, or you can at least use google translate.
It doesn’t include a dryer, so you either need to buy one yourself, or hang your clothes on a rack to dry.
1. identify the model of this washing machine
2. if it’s nowhere written on the machine other than Luxor, upload your first photo to Google Images and do an image search
3. this will give you plenty of results, mostly from private ads on kleinanzeigen.de, browse them for one that has the model mentioned
4. once you have that, google for Bedienungsanleitung Luxor WM 1042

5. go to https://www.manualslib.de/manual/286931/Luxor-Wm-1042.html or similar and copy text to Google Translate in case your German isn’t fit for this yet
