It was just 12 years ago. Incredible scandal. Suffice to say I was not actually 'a lad' at that point.

Just not the same anymore. Bring it back
My wife left me for knowingly eating horse meat lasagne.
Now I’m feeling cannelloni.
And tastier😋
Tasted better too
I was teaching GCSE biology this year and used this as an example during class and got a sea of blank faces, none of them had ever heard of it.
During that scandal a local pub landlord imported some safe-for-humans horsemeat and put it on the menu. I’m a sucker for a gimmick so I drove down for lunch and ordered some horse and chips.
It was interesting. The flavour was very strong, in the same way beef is, but very much its own thing. I immediately recognised it from some Tesco quarter pounders I’d consumed recently.
I felt a strange urge to stand in a field for 12 hours afterwards but no other side effects.

Give it a lick, it tastes just like *gag*
You won’t Findus complaining
Its was better back when
Neigh problem
Was it Birds Eye? I thought it was Tesco’s own brand
I’ll never forget my older sister (an avid horse girl) curled up and sobbing on the living room floor while watching the morning news before school. I made fun of her at the time but I feel quite bad now lmao
My favourite sushi place near where I used to live really leaned into the horsemeat scandal and had a horse sirloin special on for a few weeks. It was pretty tasty.
Aaaah yes. The good ol’ days
Those were the days.
I remember the t-shirt, I’m hung like a Tesco lasagna.
I tried Italian horse meat once.
It was pasta it’s prime.

Lasagna will never be the same again after I watched the “Poop Cruise” documentary
You must be young, as it was not that long ago Tesco’s own brand was made from Horse too…
I hope you feel STABLE after eating it, and it doesn’t give you the TROTS.
It was donkey on the later years.
We used to be a proper country.
i’m vegetarian now that i can’t eat horse meat readily. what would even be the point of eating other meats…???
Since that whole thing happened, every time I’ve had to name a horse in a video game, it’s called Findus. I’m very stupid.
I actually found a couple of these in the freezer last year, opened them, and they’re off.
I wouldn’t bridle at this mane course.
Neigh!
They were low in fat, but high in Shergar
take me back to the good old days
Back in the days of 99p lasnagne.
I had a donkey stew in Italy that was e’or-lright
On a school trip to Paris, one of the boys sat at the dinner table saying, “I’m so hungry I could eat a horse..’
Oh how we laughed
Our next-door neighbour’s son is 13, and i felt so bloody old when we had to explain to him what the horse meat scandal was about. He was only a baby at the time.
To me it was only about 5 years ago
Neigh, lad.
Had horse meat to eat in Blankenburg, Belgium as a pre-teen. I was there on a tour with my local Youth Band.
I hadn’t started learning French yet, so I thought it was beef until I ate some. I didn’t like it, but ate it. I will admit it was 1000% better than the “escargot meatballs” which I absolutely detested. There was also a weird green herby soup we got dished up once, but the bread was nice.
My father translated the menu for me when I returned home.
I remember my dad’s mate came over and had a large bag of frozen burgers for us because he couldn’t use them at his pub, because of the horsemeat scandal. We were happy to have about 30 burgers to feast on
Nay!
Mine had a picture of a zebra as a barcode
I used to practically live on findus lasagna back in my early twenties. Probably had enough for a whole horse.
The cheese that was in them was mascapony
Horse? You didn’t know how good you had it. When I was a lad we would have loved horse but they were mostly roadkill
I got to take home 40 free burgers when I worked at Iceland as apparently they had horse meat in them, I ate well that month
I had a Horse steak when I was in Italy once and it was lovely,
picky eater, here. loved findus crispy beef pancakes; heinz spag-bol in a can (or the microwave ones)…yup—i definitely consumed a goodly amount of horse as a child.
Turns out horse is fucking delicious
These kids don’t know they’re born! Get some good orse in ya, stop complainin!
And NOT the good kind
