  1. According to the filings, Wiener, D-San Francisco, intends to run as a candidate in 2028. The senator has previously said he would seek to run for the seat whenever the speaker emerita decides to step down.

“I’ve been clear that I intend to run for this seat whenever the race opens up, whether in 2026 or 2028,” Wiener said in a statement to NBC Bay Area. “This filing is a critical step to prepare for the serious work of running to succeed one of the icons of American politics.”

Pelosi, 85, already has one Democratic challenger, Saikat Chakrabarti, 39, a founding software engineer at Stripe, if she chooses to run for reelection in 2026. Chakrabarti is also the former chief of staff to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.

  2. Please, no. This man embodies the worst of Left Coast Liberalism (and yes, I am a life-long DEM voter in CA).

  3. I’ll say what we’re all thinking: we’re already fucked; might as well be by a proper Weiner.

  4. We really need Pelosi and her cohort of “forever seat holders” to be primaried.

  5. Who’s got a list of dirt on why this guy sucks and why someone with genuine progressive ideals else should replace Pelosi?

  6. Besides the fact that she’s completely beholden to corporate interests and her stock holdings she’s just too old anyways. Let’s vote out everyone and anyone over the age of 80.

80 years old should be mandatory retirement.

  7. 2028? That’s ambitious. Did he file paperwork or just a 20 page vision board??

  8. Good. Push these grandmas and peepaws out before they fuck us up even more so than they already have.

  9. Let’s get [Saikat Chakrabarti](https://www.saikat.us/en) in there! He’s got promise. He was AOC’s chief of staff! Dude, has a good head on the shoulders, and he’s a millennial.

  10. I want someone to replace Pelosi but not this guy lol.

  11. I’m good. I haven’t forgotten the carve out he gave restaurants when they were going to have to show actual prices on the menu instead of hiding ghost fees on the bill. Sure, now they have to put on their menu they have a fee but I would rather there be no fee all together and the prices reflect the actual cost. Dude showed his true colors with that one.

  12. There is actually already a great challenger in the race. His name is Saikat Chakrabarti

  13. This guy was behind the reducing the penalty for KNOWINGLY transmitting HIV to someone else, no thanks!

  14. Why is it so hard to agree to not run for an elected office after 75? I just don’t understand why we can’t all say yes to that.

  15. In 3 years time, she will give him enough insights about stock trading, he will retire and probably be promoting and voting for pelosi.

  16. For a moment I thought this was Anthony Weiner. In fact I was literally just thinking yesterday about Anthony Weiner, like “Man, I wonder what that dude has been up to. I haven’t even heard his wiener be the butt of jokes of nighttime comedians.”

Anyway, Saikat Chakrabarti (AOC’s 2018 campaign manager and co-founder of Justice Democrats) still has my support.

  17. He introduced the legislation to make it not a crime to knowingly have HIV and not tell your partner. Potentially transmitting/infecting them.

  18. He’s a creep. He voted against raising the penalties for sex crimes against minors. F*** him. 🖕🏼

  19. Gotta love how Pelosi said Biden was too old…

And, she’s older than he is…and, still fucking running.

God damn, lady…just go the the fuck away
