The final hour of Migros Do It + Garden prior to closing their gates for good had a distinctly apocalyptic feel to it and I felt compelled to document it. If you needed Christmas tree stands or novelty cookie cutter shapes, you could still get some amazing deals.

What will happen now to Brunaupark and the Migros there. The food store and Dosenbach sports will stay open right?
Fuck McKinsey. No. Fuck the Migros management that they trusted McKinsey.
I thought they were making a big green park area there?
For some weeks our local Do It had their whole assortment 50% off. Naturally I went and checked it out. And holy moly even with the 50% discount it was still more expensive than buying what I needed online. So yeah it’s kind of sad but you know… The fact that it wasn’t a really good store anymore it terms of selection, quality and even the prices were ridiculous – means that I won’t miss them all that much. And I grew up with them, they were quite good back then.
Wait are all of them closing, or just specific branches?
Now I understand the ad campaign from Jumbo better. I thought it was Coke/Pepsi level of pettiness.
I went like 5 times at my local one during the -75% sale. Some good items but it honestly looked crazy the way it was so cleaned out and empty
You don’t want your name on the paper for what you are about to do? Call 0800-MCKINSEY and let us take the blame for you
This is almost the worst decision ever, worse was only closing sportxxx…. Actually I stopped buying anything in migros after that
I’m sad for the one closing down in Bern city center (Marktgasse).
Where do Bern peeps without a car buy their greens (no, not those ones) from now on?
It’s always the same with McKinsey. They’ll tell you to sell a certain business. After a few years they’ll tell you to buy the same Branche again.
In the meantime they’ll convince you to do the same as your competitors. It’s ridiculous.
The biggest scam in the corporate world
I HATE IT SO SO SO MUCH!! Do It + Garden was awesome. I had a small one in the old town of Bern which was very convenient because I could just go there within 10 minutes if I need a screw or something more specific. They also often had special houseplants for sale. And now I have to go out of town if I need screws, etc.
Migros is a masterclass in garbage management. You have to be a special kind of shit to manage to lose money in a captive market like Switzerland.
Maybe if their goods were marked up only 1.5x instead of 2+ people might have shopped there.
imagine working there and having to “sell your job” basically. must suck.
Its crazy Migros Do it couldnt make a profit. First Jumbo and Coop Bau und Hobby fusioned and cut all the good stuff from both markets and replaced it with the worst of both. And migros just killed its own shops. I guess its all Obi and Hornbach from now on.
Shame. The Nyon one is mega central and convenient
Shrinkflation, people thought it was just new labels for smaller versions of old products?
