Ukraine’s Minister of Defence Rustem Umerov and Denmark’s Minister of Defence Troels Lund Poulsen have signed a Letter of Intent to initiate joint production of Ukrainian weapons in Denmark. The agreement outlines the establishment of Ukrainian defence enterprises on Danish soil and promotes integration between the two countries’ defence sectors.
The Danish government has committed 500 million Danish kroner to accelerate the production of Ukrainian weapons as part of this cooperation. These efforts represent the first concrete steps toward a long-term security and defence partnership between Ukraine and Denmark.
“This document marks the first step in implementing the ‘Build with Ukraine’ initiative, which we began developing during the previous Ramstein meeting,” said Minister Umerov. He described it as a strategic step that would strengthen joint defence capabilities, reinforce supply chains, and facilitate technology exchange between the two nations.
Denmark’s Minister of Defence highlighted the significance of the collaboration, stating: “By enabling Ukrainian defence companies to begin production in Denmark, we are laying the foundation for close collaboration between the defence industries of both our countries. This will also ensure that the Armed Forces of Denmark gain access to cutting-edge technologies and Ukraine’s expertise.”
The signing took place during the NATO summit in The Hague, where discussions focused on enhancing the defence industrial capabilities of partner nations. The agreement also calls for cooperation among Denmark’s Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support Ukraine’s integration into the European defence ecosystem.
Ukraine expressed its gratitude to Denmark for the trust, consistent support, and strong commitment to building a lasting partnership. Both defence ministers underlined that the cooperation enhances the security of Ukraine, Denmark, and Europe as a whole.
