Location: Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza
Event: Security Alert
The U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem is closely monitoring the security situation in response to the current ceasefire between Israel and Iran and ongoing military conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Due to the stable security environment in Israel, the U.S. Embassy has eased travel restrictions on U.S. government employees and their family members. Any official travel within restricted areas requires Embassy security office approval.
U.S. government employees and their family members are currently restricted from personal travel to the following locations:
Israel:
Within 4 kilometers/2.5 miles of the Israel-Lebanon and Israel-Syria borders.
Within 11.3 kilometers/seven miles of the Gaza demarcation line; and Within 2.4 kilometers/1.5 miles of the Israel-Egypt border, except for transiting through Taba Border Crossing.
West Bank:
All of the West Bank, except:
Routes 1, 90, and 443, which can be used at any time.
Travel to Jericho from dawn to midnight.
Travel to Bethlehem, including Beit Jala and Beit Sahour from dawn to midnight. Given continued closures of checkpoints throughout the West Bank, the only permitted and accessible route into Bethlehem for U.S. government employees and their family members is through Checkpoint 300 near Rachel’s Tomb.
This is provided for your information as you make your own security plans.
The Embassy will continue to review the security situation and will provide additional information as needed.
