Can anyone help me identify the uniform in this photo? This is my Polish great-grandfather Józef Drozdowski.

  1. Probably one of the first Polish Calvary uniforms from 1919.

To me it looks like some mix of Polish Austro-Hungarian Legionaries style (hat and collars) and German shape (no pockets, big buttons, simple style). I’ve seen similar ones maybe once.

Before 1919 every region of Poland had different uniforms, since before WW1 Poland was partitioned and while war guys were serving in different countries and types of armed forces. While 1919-1921 Polish-Bolshevik war there were all styles and colors in line.

  2. I am not good with uniforms, but quite curious how much do you know about him, what’s his story essentially

  3. Polish pre-WW2 uniform, seems to be an early one, late 1910s or early 20s.
