Is this out of date or not?

  1. Have we had 31st of June yet? No, so you’re good.

  2. As it’s not the 31st of June yet, I would say you are probably fine.

  3. No. Out of date day after 30th June. So today. So you’re good.

Even if it meant yesterday probably still good. It’s not going to to have gone toxic at midnight

  4. Better eat the lot of ’em now just to be on the safe side. You don’t want to be sat there on the 32nd, full of regret instead of cookies.

  5. The Jane X was the first thing that hit my brain, and it is so like the sort of script that might be used on sanitary products or underwear, that my first thought was; how can they go out of date?

I think you have a clear case for writing to the company in the persona of a confused elderly person and getting some free samples for pointing out their mistake.

  6. Do the sniff test

Eat them and then see how bed it smells when you shit yourself tomorrow

  7. “Schrodinger’s Cookies”

Until the packet is opened, they can be considered both out of date and within the date.

  8. There once was a cookie by Jane

It’s best before date was insane

    They’d made up a date

    That I’d spotted too late

And now I’ve got food on the brain

  9. Or you pretend to be American.

“The 6th of Octovembruary? That’s months away!!”

  10. Everyone in this thread saying “hath” inside their head.

  11. As it’s a use by date and not a general best before, that’s quite a bad error I’d definitely let them know.

They should send you something for pointing it out.

  12. I will almost guarantee that this has happened because it has – for instance – a one month shelf life.

On the 30th May, the use by date was 30th June. On the 31st May…. no one thought through the fact that there is no 31st June and they just added one day to the use by date.

It’ll be fine to eat today.

  13. I know dealing with time in code is a nightmare, but to get 31/12/2024 + 6 months = 31/06/2025 they must be converting the months into numbers and ignoring the day…
