I started seeing such posts from various politicians in facebook. As per me people in the photo look like a tourists/students crossing the road. Can someone explain what's going on with politics? Why so many politicians posting such posts where the have a picture of 3rd country nationals?

  1. A lot of Polish people are on a bit of an anti-immigrant rampage right now, it’s a heated topic, lots of fake posts to generate rage where we don’t need rage.

Best advice is to just stop going on social media, paranoid speculation conflating individual scenarios to nationwide politics doesn’t add anything useful/factual to your life but negative energy.

The politicians love it, because it’s an easy scapegoat to build their brand around, and unfortunately there are still people uneducated or naive enough to buy into the paranoia.

  2. You should check that guy’s political affiliation – he’s a member of Confederation of the Polish Crown, ie an ultraconservative, ultranationalist, ultracatholic fringe party founded by Grzegorz Braun (whom you might recall from some media reporting as that goddamn barbarian with a fire extinguisher).

  3. There is currently a misunderstanding between German and Polish border control about illegal refugees (which are dumped because Germany dont want them and those who are transported to Poland due to international law, completely legal. This two got confused). While there is a real reason to be concerned, it’s doable and solvable. Some right wing politicians are currently hyping up anti-immigrant attitudes due to this crisis. As you see, polish internet is full of this kind of photos and without context, with this problem present in the media, there may be only one outcome – yet another gropu of illegal immigrants storm yet another city. Don’t get me wrong, border security is the real problem but this photo was posted only to bait people.

  4. There is a Pomeranian Medical University quite nearby.

There are also plenty of tourist attractions within 500 meters radius. If they go straight for another 500 meters, there is the main train station in Szczecin. This particular place is around 20 km from the border. Nobody ever saw this phantom “German police bus”, which takes migrants from Germany into tourist attraction centres of Polish cities.

Lastly, there are hundreds of migrants working legally in Szczecin.

A friend of mine had a high position with high salary, paying high taxes in Szczecin. He’s from India and was living with hist family here (wife, kids). Unfortunately, he, his wife and kids were targeted by these nationalist morons virtually every day (not physical abuse, but close – including being spat on). They moved to one of the nordic countries and are very happy there.

  5. The situation isn’t fake by any means but this photo is exaggerated nevertheless. I think that those are just tourists.

    EDIT:
    It’s real.

  6. I live in Szczecin. Every time I speak with my mom she asks me if I’ve seen any hordes of migrants. I’ve yet to answer “yes”, but she’s been asking me for months.

  7. “tourists/students” In over 40 years of living in this city, I had never seen so many people of color (mostly man) in one place XD This doesn’t reflect the usual demographic you’d encounter on the streets in Poland.
But i wonder, who want to migrate to Poland if he can live in Germany, Sweeden, Belgium ect.? 🙂

  8. Lol these are not tourists

I realize this is reddit and everyone wants to delude themselves that Poland is not getting flooded with 3rd world migrants, but alas, facts dont care about your feelings and Poland is being rapidly force fed migrants

  9. Very fake. Right wingers are trying to rile up a frenzied mob of catholics and other crayon eating morons to take power away from Tusk and give it to putin. Nothing new under the sun.

  10. U better stop then before you became like we in Belgium

  11. Yes. Most likely whole situation is largely false and made up narrative. Statistical data doesn’t confirm the claims.

  12. They want immigrants out. Then they will be curious why there is problems with productions. Typical Idiocracy

  13. I will never get my head around the fact that people from Poland come to work and live in Germany, but when migrants potentially come to Poland, it’s suddenly all Winged Hussars and Uhlans…

  14. I’ll tell you the truth – they’re laborers.
I’ve lived in Szczecin my whole life, and in this area for about 10 years.
Wyszyńskiego Street is a sort of hub for workers; a lot of buses stop here to take people to various workplaces.
These people were already here 6 years ago – this isn’t a new trend.
Most of them come from Asia, though of course, you can’t tell that just from a photo.

  15. lol Politicians love migrants. What would they do without them?

  16. No, Confederation politics never lie (sometimes they may spread misinformation by accident but it’s rare)🙄

  17. Are there any Webcams in Szczecin?
    I’ll be observing them.

  18. The shipyard in Szczecin employs a lot of foreigners from the Philippines,India etc and thus there is a lot of LEGAL and WORKING migrants in our city, especially in the neighbourhoods close to the shipyard. Seeing as the place where the picture was taken is not only fairly close, but also connected by tram to the shipyard, those guys could very well be legal migrants working in Szczecin 😉

  19. Dunno if this one is fake because it’s too low res, but I’ve seen one shared online on two different occasions claiming to be from two different cities(one of them Toruń), and I know for a fact it was AI(artifacts, wrong text, twisted street signs, etc.).

  20. Classic psychoprawica fake news.

Basically fascists, often paid by Russia. Enemies of Europe and a free Poland.

  21. Daily reminder that according to all research done in the field, immigration is economically beneficial to every demographic of the host country.

  22. So, the news is: there are people of color in Poland. Shocking, really.

  23. they look quite well dressed to be illegal immigrants from third world countries, tbf..
