  1. I’m personally a little more interested in a platform that represents what a pluarlity of the working class want.

I’ll vote for whoever has one.

  2. That’s nice…

Neither of them has a chance in the general.

  3. Neither of them have a chance. Dem party needs to wake up….

  4. What a terrible idea. More lukewarm centrism to combat the extremist right? Where have I seen this before?

  5. America is not electing a gay man in an America where the current climate for LGBT folks is hostile.

Given Dem leadership, it’s his turn, so he’ll get it and then lose against MTG or Lauren Boebert.

Edit: People keep bringing up Obama but failing to realize the political climate is not 2009-2015 any more.

Obama was a unique, once in a lifetime, politician. It’s time to move on from him and grow. Hopefully the party can do that without also begging Michelle to run for the umpteenth time.

  6. There is zero chance Pete wins a national election. Zero.

  7. Do they still actually think that all the normal stuff is going to happen? Republicans will never ever willingly give up power again, Whatever they need to do to stop the transfer of power is what they will do going forward.

They are building concentration camps because they are not at all concerned with being reelected.

I wish there were still a bunch of my grandparents generation around to offset this level of denial of reality.

  8. Anyone who thinks that the American people will elect a gay guy with the word “butt” in his name has no idea what the American people are like.

  9. Did they..ask about anyone who’s NOT a neolib puke? 🙄

  10. This far out, polls are basically meaningless.

That said, I suspect Harris is done. Nobody wants another Adlai Stevenson where the same person is on the top of the ticket twice and loses both times.

I also suspect —and I wish I wasn’t right about this, but I suspect I am— the party is going to pick a straight white man who has been a governor or senator for long enough to have some accomplishments worth mentioning and who has clearly been vetted by voters and has a track-record of fighting off GOP opponents. That’s not Buttigieg either.

If there are free and fair elections in 2028 —or even if the GOP can only cheat by a few percentage points— a risk-averse Democratic Party that needs the win is probably going to pick a candidate where identity politics and quiet racism/misogyny/homophobia are not going to be loudly expressed in the polling booth.

  11. Judging by the state of affairs that is favoring left-wing populism, and the fact we’re three years out, this all seems rather premature.

  12. Kamala won’t run. The prospect of a third straight humiliating loss will deter her.

  13. This early on it’s really just a proxy for name recognition

  14. Let’s see if the USA still exists in 3 years.

  15. So, I don’t care what platform, or who does or does not support Israel, Palestine, Ukraine or China. I’m voting for whichever motherfucker stands the best chance of stopping this insane merry go round of bullshit that we are all on right now.

  16. Pete is only appealing to MSNBC white liberals. No one else likes him

  17. Downvote me all you want but the bigots who were unwilling to vote for a woman will not vote for a gay man. A significant portion of the voting public couldn’t understand a platform with any complexity and will vote with their bigoted gut.

I don’t have a solution, but I’m worried about a very real problem.

  18. Nope. We need new leadership. Not Kamala and not Pete. Sorry

  19. These bozos are not ready for a woman, they’re not ready for a gay man. Sad because he’s a very good candidate. I can just picture the negative ads by republicans.

  20. Kamala isn’t going to win, we’ve tried that already, she should step aside if she’s running

  21. I want the brain of Machiavelli, the zeal of John Brown, the guts of Mother Jones, the words of James Baldwin, and the conviction of Lincoln.

I don’t want the employees of consultants or the defenders of ICE.

I want someone that they think no Trumper would ever support. Because they don’t understand that half of Trump’s base is voting for dynamite to the system and that’s the right instinct.

The time has far passed for small incremental change. When you’re driving off a cliff you turn the wheel hard and someone’s gonna bump their head. I prefer the bump to be on the billionaires, not the working class. The billionaires can absorb the hit. The working class has had enough.

I want a gun toting leftist shooting copies of project 2025 saying it’s a bunch of fake Bible thumpers who want to make a quick buck off the Christian brand.

I want them to unapologetically say that government belongs to the people and it’s ok to act like it. I want promises to charge and convict fraud starting back at the housing collapse.

I don’t want Status Joe. I don’t want Safe Moderate. I want them on the defensive. I want MAGA dismantling their oligarchy in advance out of fear of this candidate inhereting it.

I want a candidate who will play every card in their hand to win because they care about justice.

Mayor Pete and Kamala are peace time choices. This is war. I want a warrior. I want someone who has been arrested. Someone who will get arrested on the campaign trail. I want someone who they try to assassinate.

Anything less isn’t enough to matter. I want the same power and the same anger as we see on the right, but anger that springs not from hate for what America has become- but anger that springs from Love for what America could be.

Otherwise, skip the formalities. If we can’t find a candidate like this- who can fight, win the vote, lead the fight to certify the vote, and make it to inauguration day in one piece, we might as well just move.

  22. I have a very hard time taking seriously a poll that ranks Harris ahead of AOC.

  23. It can’t be him. He literally has zero support from African American men. There are several polls that show this.

  24. Its sounds ugly, but this country is seeded in homophobia, racism and sexism. And it ain’t changing any time soon. Democrats will not win with these two candidates, ever.

  25. I’m sorry but a gay man will not be President of the United States in our lifetimes. Not happening. I can’t even begin to imagine all of the homophobia he would have to endure. We don’t even have a female president yet.

And WHY is Kamala still polling at the top? Her against JD Vance in 2028 would be an epic disaster for Democrats.

  26. Democrats need to learn that if America isn’t ready for a woman as president, they are definitely not ready for an openly gay president.

    Sorry but it’s facts.

  27. I know this is gonna sound misogynistic, but we don’t need a woman of color and we don’t need an openly gay person to fight this fascist regime

They should both be in the cabinet, but Al Gore would do better in the polls than this guy

Personally, I would want to see

JB Pritzker with AOC as VP

  28. How to lose an election once again 101. Nobody does it better than democrats.

  29. I get the feeling many Dems dont understand what is happening and still think this is just another day at the office.
Pete may not be the best choice right now.

  30. Might be the most talented politician I’ve seen since Obama. As soon as I saw him more than a few times in interviews I knew I was looking at a future President, but when? How soon will a plurality of America be open minded enough to elect a gay president? Sadly I don’t think I’ve seen anything since 2016 to make me trust that most of America are there yet.

  31. As a gay woman who is disgusted with the way things are going… lets get a cis white male democrat ffs. For some reason that’s that we need and i hate it.. but dammit it works.

  32. No offense to either of them could we please please have some new people? Did they really learn nothing from the last five election cycles?

  33. lmao are they still even considering running Kamala Harris back?

  34. We don’t want another Neo-Liberal. We want people like Bernie, Mamdani, and AOC. If the Democrats try and rat fuck their base and run another third way liberal scumbag it will be the end of them.

  35. Harris cannot win. The country is not ready for a woman President.

Buttigieg won’t win because he is gay. It’s a shame, yes, but it’s the reality.

As much as it’s not the ideal choice leftism wise, Newsom seems the best choice to fight fire with fire.

  36. Lets focus on 2026 first and regaining control of Congress.

  37. He was like the second most reviled candidate by left, right behind her. Why do you all keep trying to lose?

  38. She already lost once. Why the actual fuck would they run her again!? It’s like they want to lose…

  39. Nah. Give me AOC. And if the left can stomach dropping assault weapon ban rhetoric they’ll also secure the one issue voters who only vote Republican because of that.

  40. I love Pete. I think he’s very intelligent and honest. That being said, there is no way that a gay man will be President of the US. Too many ridiculous knuckle dragging neanderthals can’t separate personal life from political ability. It’s sad but if they want a Democrat to take the office next time they need to come up with a white, good looking, semi intelligent candidate. I don’t make the rules and think it’s disgusting but I tell you, I hear people talk and see what they post online and unfortunately, if they don’t find someone like that then Vance will in all probability be the next President and this crap will continue down a very dark path. That’s assuming of course that nothing happens to give congress an even more right wing slant. If that happens then we may be talking about a third term for the idiot in chief. As I said, I don’t like it but that’s the way I feel this would play out. Kamala had two strikes against her, she’s black and a women. There are those that simply won’t vote for one of those or the other. Obama only had one to deal with, being black and he rode to victory because of how awful Bush was. I like Pete, but we simply have to reverse this course of fascism. Too much is at stake.
