Saying “mustn’t grumble”, after at least half an hour of grumbling, is a proud British tradition.
Of course we aren’t happy in winter, there’s a fair few number who can’t afford heating…
Complaining about the weather is the only way strangers communicate in this country .
actually yes.
the winter is far easier then summer.
or at least they are in older buildings, newbuild seem designed to try and kill you off in every season.
Our buildings are built to best serve in temporate rainu conditions, which is 90% of the year including most of summer and winter.
We aren’t happy in winter, the point is that foreigners from hotter climes are also unhappy in a British Summer, depending on the building.
When your buildings are designed to trap heat, but it feels like you’re stuck in a sauna all year round. The struggle is real!
You think this represents Scotland?
To be fair the new build I used to live in was great in the winter. Retained heat like nobodies business, could go most of the colder months barely touching the heating. Summer was a nightmare.
Now I live in a house built in the 70’s that isn’t quite as hot in the summer (still not great in this type of weather though) but I use my heating much more than I did.
I think when your house was built has a big impact.
My Wife is cold all year long anyway.
Winter is fine, love getting under a few blankets to watch a film on the sofa.
Do we have winters anymore? It’s just a darker, wetter autumn.
Actually yea. Unless you have a cavernous room with minimal radiators it’s pretty good.
Most of us have some form of heat generating appliance (big TV, PC etc) that also helps keep the room warm. That’s one of the big problems in the summer too. 8 hours in a small home office next to a raging hot computer.
