The Danish national broadcaster DR has officially opened the submission period for songs to be considered in the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026—the prestigious contest that selects Denmark’s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. Artists and songwriters have until 2 November 2025 to submit their entries. From the entries received, eight acts will be selected to compete in a televised final scheduled for Saturday, 14 February 2026, at Frederikshavn’s Arena Nord.

This comes on the heels of a notable year for Denmark in Eurovision 2025. Represented by Faroese singer Sissal and her powerful electro-pop song “Hallucination,” Denmark successfully broke a six-year streak of non-qualification by progressing to the Eurovision Grand Final for the first time since 2019.

Sissal advanced from the second semi-final on 15 May 2025, finishing in 8th place with 61 points. In the Grand Final, she delivered a commanding performance in 22nd position and ultimately placed 23rd with 47 points. Her strong vocals and dynamic staging drew widespread praise, marking a revival for Denmark on the Eurovision stage.

As DR prepares for next year’s national selection, the broadcaster and fans alike will be watching to see whether this renewed momentum carries into 2026. With the call for submissions now open, the art of balancing song quality, staging creativity, and public appeal is more crucial than ever.
