  26. This article goes on and on about how they *may* broaden the interpretation of a “potential danger to national security,” which is listed as part of their first priority for denaturalization. And that’s valid. They will absolutely do that. But that’s just their first of ten priorities.

    Here’s 9 and 10:

    > 9. Cases referred by a United States Attorney’s Office or in connection with pending criminal charges, if those charges do not fit within one of the other priorities; and
    >
    > 10. Any other cases referred to the Civil Division that the Division determines to be sufficiently important to pursue.

    9 states any ***pending criminal charges*** can be used, and 10 expands that to any case whatsoever.

    These people are citizens. Citizens who have every right afforded to them by the Constitution. And these fascists want to pull them in front of a kangaroo court and revoke citizenship.

  28. The number of people in this thread who either don’t even glance at the article (or perhaps don’t know what the word naturalized means) is astounding.

    That said, Trump will absolutely attempt to strip citizenship from US citizens he doesn’t like if they weren’t born here and there is anything in the application or history before application that is claimed should have been disclosed before.

    I honestly don’t think we can fight Trump and his movement directly and win anymore. The only hope I have left is for exciting new (often young, but not required) politicians to take away a portion of his zombie followers. His falling down on fixing the economy is the opening we need to get more progressives in office. Go Mamdani!

    (But by all means we should fight all of Trump’s outrageous moves in court – sometimes we will win, but in the long run we have to win over some of his voters with appealing candidates – just screaming fascism, regardless of the veracity of the claim ain’t going to do it).

    This is an important part of this. Just by pushing the notion that they might come after you for your open political position is enough to terrorize people mentally into refraining from engaging in political dissent or even going so far as to vote for MAGA simply out of fear of retribution for voting against them. MAGA went from “the left are getting immigrants to vote in masses for them” to “we are going to threaten legal immigrants who became citizens into voting for us” … yet another blatant and twisted sense of projection on their part.
