The minister pointed out that this decision was made because the change of management at the airline has not yet been completed and its financial situation remains problematic.

According to the Estonian infrastructure minister, Estonia has received an offer from the Latvian Ministry of Transport to acquire up to 10% of airBaltic shares for €14 million. The offer was the same for both Lithuania and Lufthansa. Estonia has decided that airBaltic is an important partner, but the state will not acquire a stake in the airline.

In order to develop cooperation, Estonia is ready to offer the airline no increase in airport charges until 2030.

airBaltic currently accounts for 30% of passenger traffic at Tallinn Airport.

Lithuania has not yet decided whether to buy shares in the airline, while Germany’s competition watchdog, the Federal Cartel Office, on Monday allowed Lufthansa to acquire a 10% stake in airBaltic.
