Are the people of Warrenpoint being poisoned? Why are the NMDDC councillors on Warrenpoint Harbour Authority board not speaking up? We voted them in but not for this.

Absolutely crazy what’s been going on in the Point for so long, and the council, harbour authority, Regen… the lot of them, doing absolutely fuck all about it.

Feel pretty bad for presuming conspiracy stuff from that title now. Obviously it doesn’t provide proof that the chemicals are carcinogenic, but this does seem like a genuine issue regardless – even just on grounds of making the local area thoroughly unpleasant to live in. Very well spoken as well!
Not the 1st time I’ve heard about pesticides and things like that causing major illness to those living near it. Same with golf courses in America.
This area is also a hotspot for radon in the ground. I know plenty of folk from the area who have suffered with cancers
I’ll confess I don’t know anything about this. But I would not be in the least bit surprised.
They opened asbestos factories here after they knew what it did.
Being from Derry I’ve always known about DuPont and how it’s had a history elsewhere of polluting and health issues that can happen from that. Currently I’m worried about the illegal super dump that’s been called Europes worst environment dump. Leaching chemicals into the river which farther down stream provides most of the cities drinking water from.
Then there’s the recent evidence of airport building materials leaching into the ground water and causing health issues like cancer, immune dysfunction and fertility issues in the people who are in a nearby city.
It’s likely everywhere not just airports. They’re used in everything from cooking pans to waterproof jackets, food packaging, firefighting foams and electronics
Found in the blood of nearly every person on earth.
There’s an interactive map of known users/ potential users and unknown sites. It’s vast. And possibly more sites will be exposed/ looked into now.

This is just one forever chemical.

So yes I would not be surprised. None of what I said is conspiracy. It’s fact. Backed by science.
why is this ridiculous business model allowed? Shipping truck loads of waste daily from across GB and Ireland into Newry. Easy to remove plastic bottles taken out for sale and then waste exported to Scandinavia, Netherlands and USA for incineration. Just the burning of the waste produces nearly 3 tonnes of CO2 for each tonne burned and then add in transport.
The chemicals sprayed on the waste inevitably gets into the sea, into the water that folk swim in around the coast of County Down. Gets into the sea food. to be freshly served in restaurants, frozen fish, fish and chip shops.
NIEA is unable to act quickly, penalties for waste crime and pollution are paltry, no deterrent. Waste in NI is not properly managed by the Daera and its NIEA department.
No doubt the operators of the waste company are actively sponsoring sports etc to show their social responsibility as they actively harm the community and society at large. Any sponsorship should be rejected.
Local Authority Partnerships:
Re-Gen has a significant partnership with Scottish Borders Council, securing a contract for the uplift, treatment, and disposal of their commingled mixed recyclables. This contract, worth £5.6 million, covers 10,000 tonnes of dry mixed recyclables each year.
International Partnerships:
Re-Gen has partnered with Norwegian company Fortum for exporting waste-derived fuel to a waste-to-energy facility in Oslo. This partnership is part of an effort to maximize energy recovery and minimize carbon footprint.
Community Sponsorships:
Re-Gen also engages in community sponsorships, such as providing new kits for St Moninna’s PS. This shows their commitment to supporting local initiatives and promoting engagement in sports.
Dig into Cambridge Regen contract – NI processing waste from distant places – nothing sustainable about this – just pollution. unnecessary CO2, excess road traffic, social harm and 💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰
My thoughts go out to that lady and her husband. That’s truly awful.
We’re all being poisoned. Cancer rates through the roof. Used to be 1 in 3 when I was younger now it’s 1 in 2. Surely it should be going the other way.
Do regen just take the green bin ‘recyclables’ remove the metals and send the rest to be burnt?
every increasing leakage of radioactive waste into the Irish area affects the east coast of Ireland terribly , dumped at sea and deemed to dangerous to remove
I thought it was mostly pallets and with household waste thrown in at the end. What are those bales?
Is there any way to get cancer hotspot data anywhere (publically) – I mean… does healthcare data just get locked up due to patient confidentiality? Be curious how many cancer ward admissions per area etc. there are.
Hear me out, I’m not a whackadoo facebook header BUT was there not a lot of speculation about the Sellafield disaster elevating cancer on the east cost of NI due to the direction of the wind. Places like Bangor & as far down as Warrenpoint (& Dundalk) would have been affected. Again I’m not saying its a real thing but I do remember speculation about it.
I honestly thought they were talking about cow shit for most of it, I was outraged someone would be talking crap about our cows. But after watching they certainly have valid points.
