here in Seville residents are sizzling as a heat wave grips large parts of Europe Spain is grappling with its hottest June on record with temperatures climbing above 40° C across much of the country it’s awful it makes me collapse we need to be looking for shade constantly we were given these bracelets to track our body heat i feel terrible i can’t sleep well and have insomnia i also get heat strokes i stop eating and I just can’t focus further north in the capital Madrid sweltering residents seek relief from the blazing sun at the sprinklers and cooling units installed in public areas this is clearly climate change i don’t think we’ve ever experienced anything like this before the heat in Madrid is unlike anywhere else it’s not just Spain with red heat warnings neighboring Portugal has enforced them too with almost all inland areas at risk of wildfires in Lisbon pharmacists have been advising people not to go out during critical heat hours if people must go out they should protect themselves well wear light clothing a hat and remain hydrated but we’ve already had some cases of heat stroke and burns in the Italian capital tourists are braving the heat armed with fans and umbrellas and trying not to fry we often put the dog in the bag because his paws are burning and he can’t walk because he’s panting and it’s too hot for us too
humidity wise it’s much higher so it’s a different type of hot it’s true everyone it’s kind of like a fauna the stifling temperatures are exacerbated by the heat dome hovering over Europe it occurs when high pressure lingers over the same area trapping warm air underneath like the lid on a saucepan it’s expected the mercury will continue to soar in the coming days as authorities across the block continue to issue warnings and measures to keep people

A heat dome hovered over an arc from France, Portugal and Spain to Turkey, while data from European forecasters suggested other countries were set to broil further in coming days. New highs are expected on Wednesday before rain is forecast to bring respite to some areas later this week.

  1. And still people are denying climate change and actively working against the drastic measures needed to be taken to mitigate the horrors that are coming. It’s so freaking unbelievable. I will never stop mourning the future of prosperity we could have had if we weren’t so fundamentally flawed as a species. I will also never stop mourning for all the other creatures who have no guilt in this but who will join in paying the price either way.

  13. We had a short heat dome over Quebec last week. Went up to 41C with VERY high humidity… It didn't last this year, but for the last few years, it was pretty bad…
    I live in Quebec, and electricity is cheap at 7centsKWh, so we all have Air Conditioning. It's a lifesaver…

  19. Never understood why so many people tour Europe in the summertime, especially considering that most places lack air conditioning. If it's above 30 degrees C, stay inside! In America, most people have air conditioning unless they live older buildings in NYC or Los Angeles. And it gets way hotter here in many states.

  21. Ireland or Norway are usually more comfortable this time of year. Sure, maybe not as many ancient treasures, but how can you enjoy them while baking to death?

    for most of the continent, June was more or less normal, it's called summer.
